FAQs about hotels in Brussels

Chocolate Capital of Europe

Brussels is well-known as the headquarters of many European institutions and is often called the capital of Europe. However, Belgian waffles, beer and chocolate are just a few of the city’s best-known delicacies that can rival its political reputation.

French and Dutch are city’s two official languages so all streets and landmarks have two different names: don’t be surprised when you look for Grand Place and end up on Grote Markt!

Don’t miss the famous bronze statue aptly named Manneken Pis or the futuristic Atomium, a truly unique architectural creation. Wandering through side streets to discover small bookshops, romantic cafés and ethnic restaurants reveals Brussel's charm.

Brussels is a real melting pot of Europe, filled with great museums and art from Memling, Bosch or Rubens, historic breweries and great concert halls. Shopping addicts can visit the world’s first shopping mall, the Saint Hubert Gallery, opened here in 1847.

If you’re arriving at Brussels Airport or South Charleroi Airport, all major attractions are just a short train or bus ride away. Whether you’re looking for a design hotel, a comfortable apartment or a friendly B&B, Booking.com has something perfect for your Brussels trip.

Enjoyed our short stay in Brussels.

Enjoyed our short stay in Brussels. Enjoyed great local food Cirio in the old Stadt, loved walking around looking at all those amazing old buildings- the main square was simply stunning on a sunny morning for a waffle and coffee, found a fabulous arty shop selling great funky prints and amazing clothes. the Church of St Michael was amazing. We ar 70 yr olds and found it easy to get around the city with bags from station to hotel.

The city has a great variety of museums and art galleries, the food is good but expensive, and the architecture is wonderful. The people are usually pleasant and helpful. Be aware that it is easy to get lost as the streets curve more than many other European cities and the street names change after a block or two so you need to have patience.

A beautiful city, full of sights to see. You'll find buildings from different historical periods, each retaining its original architectural style. All of this is interwoven with the rich multicultural fabric of its inhabitants. It's a place that's well worth visiting at least once.

Lively city, many events, interesting sights and museums.

Lively city, many events, interesting sights and museums. Good transport, but buses are often problematic, due to works or unforeseen circumstances (i.e. a marathon, a demonstration, a festivity). Some museums closed on Halloween (i.e. the Musical Instruments Museum, but not the Natural History or the African museum).

It's still unexplored considering the big ticket European cities but keep Brussels, Brugge & Ghent in your bucket list, you won't be disappointed. Savour the fries, chocolates, muscles and waffles.

Brussels has major roadworks outside railway station that have dragged on and don’t give a good vibe when you arrive, but city centre is fine, be aware of your possessions and there are a few beggars about. Everyone uses English as a second language and menus are generally in 3/4 main languages. Many restaurant toilets are either upstairs or downstairs and can be quite steep. Good footwear is essential, cobbles are part of the history but do batter your feet. Great selection of bars and restaurants. Can be quite a queue at some of the key photo points, but we found early morning or later in day give you the pictures you want

This is a lovely place, perfectly comfortable and completely unpretentious. Nothing fancy but the ethos of the Institute is not about that anyway. Simple rooms over a garden of trees out the window. It's quiet and restful, and if you are happy to walk it isn't far from Brussels Centraal and so the museums, Grand Place, etc. (If not, there is a bus stop around the corner and Madou metro station up the street). It was a third cheaper than the best of the cheaper hotels I could find for the same dates. I would stay there again.

The place was very close to the city center and train station. The room was clean and well-designed. The hotel had one of the best breakfasts by European standards. I'd like to specially mention Lorena and Andrea, they helped out with every issue and were very friendly. They were efficiently talking in English and Spanish aside from French which is rare in most parts of Belgium. If I ever visit Brussels again I'll definitely will be staying here.

We stayed one night at Catalonia Brussels and overall had a pleasant experience. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and professional. The hotel is located in a quiet area and well connected to the city center by public transport. We also appreciated the option to check in online, which made arrival smooth and fast.

Have stayed in this hotel a few times now. It's very comfortable and surprisingly quiet given the proximity to Grand Place. It's basic but very clean and the staff are lovely and helpful. The bed was comfortable. We liked it a lot. The location is fantastic, very near Central Station and walking distance from the main centre in Brussels.
