Definitely not your regular 2 star, more like 4 star - friendly staff, amazing room, great breakfast. One of the best hotels I've stayed at. Torhout is only 15 minutes on the train from Bruges - a great place to stay without paying premium prices.

It was a stopover for us before a long drive to Northern Germany. We were late arriving but the proprietor kindly waited for us and also gave us an upgrade to a suite. Such a comfortable bed and so sorry to have to be on the road so early in the morning. Would've loved to have a bit more time to luxuriate in the lovely surroundings. The hotel oozes character and it was so quiet and peaceful there. Breakfast was lovely too.
