we had a great stay at the Embrace Resort and would recommend staying here for anyone wanting to see the Bahamas! The staff and facilities where amazing. There is a great restaurant on site and the staff helped organise activities which were unforgettable and will be treasured forever.

Perfect spot to get to, especially if you are a private pilot. 20% of the flight cost compared to retail options. Quaint island, walkable but golf cart preferred. Tons to do on the water in a very close and manageable timeframe/distances with young kids. On land has a couple shops/groceries, 2 or 3 bars and some great sand and secluded beaches (don't miss Pirate Trap beach). Easy day or two to keep kids happy on land.
We did one boating day north (Rachels Bubble Bath - hit at high tide, Compass Cay sharks - also great at high tide, Little Pipe Cay sand bars - hit at low tide, 007 grotto - hit at low tide, sunken airplane in 5' of water - hit at low tide, Pig Beach - get there early to avoid crowds) AND one day south (Little Farmers Cay - swim with turtles, great walkaround island to see shops, bars, runway, Bitter Guana Cay - iguanas swarm you on a beautiful beach, Oven Rock & Gemstone Cave - very easy 8-10 minute trail walk, Rudder Cay to see the piano - low tide is best).
North ride max point was 20-25 minutes. South to Little Farmers is 30-35 minutes (100HP, 18' Boston Whaler). Hitting Rudder Cay would be another 15 minutes south.
Loads of other places to stop and see too by boat, plus tons of secluded beaches, coves, etc. to explore.
Overall, great island. Very small, just big enough to have some action around of some kind yet quiet at the same time. Yacht Club is the center point of it all.

Loved every second on Staniel Cay. It is paradise on earth.
Loved every second on Staniel Cay. It is paradise on earth. Now I just have to win "lotto" so I can take all my friends there. Highlight of our visit was spending the day out on the water visiting Pig Island and swimming with the pigs, the nurse sharks, snorkelling into Thunderball Grotto with my partner. By the time we snorkelled out I had gained my confidence in the water and we were able to snorkel out through the gap holding hands (a very special experience as it was his dream for us to see this place together)

If you're looking for nightlife or nice restaurants to eat...
If you're looking for nightlife or nice restaurants to eat this is not the place to go. There is literally one place that you can eat. It's hard to find food to cook on your own because you have to wait for the boat to come in if you're buying groceries, there's not a lot and they are expensive. If you want to fish and boat, this is the place but it is very expensive to rent. At night time there is absolute nothing to do but sit home and drink or go to the one bar "yacht club" to drink.

A small island hideaway used by yachties and boaters.
A small island hideaway used by yachties and boaters. The water is incredibly stunning, beautiful sunsets and friendly people. The Flying Pig Cafe is run by the folks at Embrace Resorts with a variety of food and drinks available. The Staniel Cay Yacht Club was a great place for hanging out, watching the yachts moored and excellent food. A great place to people watch. The beaches were spectacular with soft white sand and calm waters on one side of the island and the more craggy and rougher Atlantic side. There is one church on the island that visitors and the island people attend. A very warm, hospitable and friendly island.
Take an excursion to tool around the islands. Gold carts are the best way to get around, but bikes and walking is easy to do as well. The island is small, only about 2 square miles. One can't get lost!
There are a few grocery stores as well. Just remember, most food is imported and expensive.
Bring cash, as there are no ATM's on the island. Some places will take credit cards.

just an unbelievable location.
just an unbelievable location. We wish we had spent longer here because we spent the next half of oour holiday at the atlantis and it was awful compared to staniel cay.
we even swam in unpopulated beaches and saw wild stingrays, it was just amazing.

The beaches are absolutely magnificent and exceptionally beautiful. The Staniel Cay Yacht Club is a really great bar for the evening. I had two burgers and a pizza there. The burgers were really delicious, and the fries were perfectly crispy. I also really enjoyed the view from the club. The water is so clear; you can see sharks and yachts.
