We ate dinner at Le Gabriel Restaurant.
We ate dinner at Le Gabriel Restaurant. There was entertainment Sunday evening at the restaurant. A woman played the fiddle and a man accompanied her on a keyboard. They were excellent. Seafood prices are very high. The place was very busy and the food was good. Getting around Cheticamp is easy. We enjoyed driving along the entire Cabot Trail on Cape Breton Island. The Cape Breton Highlands Provincial Park was closed because of high fire danger.Guest review bylewis - 10.0
We love Cheticamp.
We love Cheticamp. The Dory for entertainment or the Gabriel for an outdoor beverage. Lots to see . Beautiful location watching the fishing boats! The Auberge Suites are great. Stayed there twice. And would stay again!Guest review byKatieCanada - 10.0
This charming village is a perfect location to explore west...
This charming village is a perfect location to explore west side of the Cabot Trail, among many the Skyline trail. There are several good restaurants (a bit $$) and a lovely Cafe (Marguerite). Like all over in Nova Scotia, people are welcoming and friendly.Guest review byLuciaCanada - 8.0
Cheticamp is a cute town that is pretty small.
Cheticamp is a cute town that is pretty small. Try to find live fiddling music, which we did at Doryman's Pub. The area is also known for rug hooking and there are two shops that specialize in those products. A number of good restaurants.
A number of good restaurants. Local people very helpful and friendly. Gorgeous area including many sites outside of the nearby National Park. Local sites include Gypsum Lake, Cheticamp Island ( causeway access). Harbour Restaurant and Seafood Stop good - plain and simple good Pizza - Pizza Shack - liked veggie explosion. We enjoyed a visit to the Folk Cafe which was very relaxing. Found inability to walk alongside waterfront frustrating. We visited Cheticamp solely to have a whale watching trip with Captain Zodiac which was extremely enjoyable and successful. We drove part of The Cabot Trail which was OK but we are so used to beautiful scenery at home in Cornwall and Wales, that we did not think the scenery that interesting. Good sized room, and spotlessly clean. Ample parking and outside seating to enjoy the evening sun. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and on request provided us with a kettle and the necessities to make tea/coffee in our room. We really enjoyed the breakfast too, it set us up for the day ahead, and our whale trip which was booked in Cheticamp following check out. Thank you. Caring, funny, she will make you feel at home. Do not pass by without staying here in Cheticamp. We were on our motorcycles and it rained during the night. The next morning Michelle had brought some towels on our motorcycles to wipe them down, now this is 5 star service. Thanks again Michelle, hope to see you again some day! Great location, right on the harbour. The room was comfortable and they provided coffee and cream! We were in a lower suite and the guests above us were quiet. Sunset was lovely. The hotel needs some serious updating and to refinish walls and flooring. Everything was very clean except the floors. The staff was great. The breakfast was ok. Wouldn't rave about it. It was hot and had a decent variety. The coffee was horrible though.
