Very pretty, walkable small town.

Very pretty, walkable small town. Downtown on Saturday night was very quiet. Lots of restaurant choices for dinner, we ended up at the Bridge Bistro - loved the river walk on the way back to our hotel. Mountain views everywhere! Great hiking at the Fernie Alpine resort.

Fernie is a great small town only 3 hours from Calgary by...

Fernie is a great small town only 3 hours from Calgary by car. People are friendly and it has a great outdoorsy vibe. In summer there are lots of options for mtn biking and hiking, but also white water rafting, fishing and golfing. There are several stores that sell outdoor gear as well as several places for hiring gear like mtn bikes in summer and boards/skis in winter. There is enough cultural sites to provide interest for a few days including a small museum. The mtn scenery is incredible.

Fernie is a beautiful mountain town with a great mix of outdoor adventure and small-town charm. The scenery is stunning, especially if you love the mountains, and there’s no shortage of things to do — especially hiking and biking. The local shops and restaurants have a cozy, welcoming vibe, and the community feels friendly and laid-back. Definitely worth a visit if you’re into nature and a relaxed pace

I would reccommend a stop at Fernie on the circuit with expert ski areas like Revelstoke & Kicking Horse & Lake Louise. It has extreme pitches and terrain to get you jazzed and plenty of fresh snow.

Fernie is a fabulous place to visit.

Fernie is a fabulous place to visit. Great scenery, friendly people, fantastic skiing/boarding (when the snow is good!). If you're hiking in the summer, it's pretty hard to beat. There are reasonable choices for Eats/Drinks, and the outdoor recreation is varied and plentiful. It's a bit of a bummer if you get stuck with the "Fernie Rain" when you're trying to sled/ski/board, but that kind of bad luck isn't THAT common, either you ride it out or try something different!

Fernie is boring compared to Alberta.

Fernie is boring compared to Alberta. Landscape nothing special. Fernie itself has not very much. I think its only viable for a visit if you like snowboarding - I visited in August and it was dull! Wish I'd left it out of my itinery

Very clean, quiet and beautifully furnished room. Room was rather small, but the clever layout and nice design made it look actually very spacious. Very comfortable bed and nice sheets. Great location just off the hwy, but close to the downtown as well. Awesome communication from the hotel (they send information about check-in, provide phone number if needed, send a proper receipt after checking out). Definitely would recommend

Nice hostel in downtown Fernie. 1 stair down you can drink a great local beer on the terrace. Very friendly staff.
