The hotel is absolutely amazing. I am travelling the world woth my son and this trip was the best we ever had. We ended up staying longer. The host is amazing. She keeps in touch by wechat and she answered all our requests. She made our stay so much easier! The room is really spacious with comfy beds. The view is outstanding. I miss my mornings, when I just stared out of the window on the ancient city rooftops. The location is great- very centrally located yet you just make 1 turn from the buzzlin street and it's absolutely quiet. We had best nights there. Also during the whole stay i never locked the room and we were out till late. This is how safe it is. Priceless. I am the host myself and usually approach the hotels with high demands, but this time there was nothing to complain about. I purely enjoyed everything.

The hospitality and care for the wellness of their guests go beyond expectations and anything I have ever experienced in a hotel. From the first moment of walking through the doors and being greeted by May and HeiMi (the cat), I felt the warmness of stepping foot into Bivou-instantly, I was at a place that felt like home. Right when we stepped through the threshold, we were offered homemade bread (that I could still taste even now) and some delicious apple tea. The ayis (aunties) helped move our heavy luggage into the beautiful room, and spent time introducing the activities in the hotel, activities we could do around Lijiang, and different hikes that we could go on. Our room was so COMFORTABLE - high ceilings, spacious bathroom with a rain shower, clean and woodsy interior, and firm beds with warming mats. The welcome package included lotion, lip balm, and the most comprehensive maps of Lijiang, as well as a binder filled with activities to do. The activities weren't your typical "tourist" activities but they were incredibly curated, local gems like biking to Baishi village and going to see the Naxi orchestra (Nomi helped booked for us! Thank you!). The owner of Bivou is so fun and helpful - she gave us a map for Tiger Leaping Gorge and even helped us arrange a hotel on the trail! For a lot of my stay in Lijiang, I was sick (some food poisoning), but the ayis, especially May, kept me alive - not even exaggerating. They went out of their way to cook porridge for me, recommended and brewed red tea for my stomach ache, delivered homemade soup and dumplings up to the room, and changed the bed sheets at midnight for us. The Bivou cafe was the ONLY place I trusted to eat at because I wasn't feeling well. The food is so healthy, fresh, homecooked with love, and absolutely healing. Bivou is not your typical boutique hotel, not the Banyan, nor the Four Seasons.

We are a family of two adults and two children under the age of 10. The homestay is located in a quiet area of the city, with spacious rooms and plenty of natural light. We were well taken care of by our host. There are Chinese and Western options for breakfast (eggs, sweet potatoes, corn, black tea, milk), which need to be requested one day in advance. We didn't want to order Chinese breakfast, but on the last morning, we ordered two sets of Chinese breakfast and two sets of Western breakfast, which was indeed a good choice and should have been done from the beginning. We had to extend our stay by one day, and the host showed us the sights, restaurants, and great cafes in the area. I will definitely stay here again next time I go to Lijiang.

The homestay enjoys a prime location, near the South Gate of Shuhe Ancient Town, with convenient transportation and a beautiful surrounding environment. The room environment is exactly to my liking, and it offers extremely high - cost performance. Both the service and facilities exceeded my expectations. The housekeeper warmly entertained us, was responsive to all requests and answered all questions, making us feel at home. There is a private parking lot, free charging piles, and a laundry room. There is an elevator on all four floors. The young men and women at the inn greet us warmly when we enter and leave, and they help us make travel plans to avoid tourist traps. The environment of the store is simply breathtaking. The stay experience was wonderful, and I highly recommend it!

The hotel was beautiful and the location was excellent, Close enough to walk easily and many shop and restuarnt nearyby. Rooms were sumptuous and beds very comfortable. Awesome staff, they helping arrange transportation and planed us in a wonderful day trip to Tiger Leaping Gorge. Cozy ,lovely place and kind people.

    Lijian old town is full of tourist shops, very few locals live there. It is very busy in the afternoon and evening with tourists, even in low season ie Dec and Jan when we visited. The local night food market is good on edge of the old city. Go there for an experience. Cheap eats and real Lijiang atmosphere. Recommend visit to Biasha village. Shuwue not so great. A beautiful park on the edge of Lijiang old town, Dragon Pool park well worth a visit. 50yuan entry fee, but if 60 years old its free.

    Fantastic place … Ancient Town is fabulous.

    Fantastic place … Ancient Town is fabulous. No motor vehicles, motor bikes or bikes apart from service vehicles. To get a taxi you have to walk to outside the town and delivery drivers have to park outside and walk the delivery in. Call your accom when you get off the train ( 20 mins taxi ride .. 30 yuan ) and they will meet you at the gate with a trolley to carry your bags. The stone streets are brutal to drag a suitcase across! Photo central. It is many centuries old and is presented beautifully. They celebrate the waterways with flowers and landscaping that is fabulous Take a good camera. Day trips to Shangrila (high speed train) and Tiger leaping gorge (bus) are a must and the scenery is breathtaking. Not a bad thing to say about Lijiang. So many choices of food, shopping, drink and entertainment. The dancing ladies at square street every night is a must see - and join in ! Have an iPhone 10 or better to download the few apps you will need to get by just fine as a solo traveller who can say hello and thank you in Chinese and nothing else. Awesome place and an obvious choice to use as a base

    At Yulong Mountain, there are many attractions, and most of them are free of charge after you have paid the entrance fee before entering the mountain. This fee is inclusive of a tour bus that takes you to all of these sites. I was there during the Golden week. Though it was crowded but I enjoyed seeing how they celebrate this event with colorful costumes and singing performance everywhere

    Lijiang is a nice town with a very beautiful ancient town. Almost all the shops in the ancient town open till very late at night and the public toilets in there are (surprisingly) very clean though abit dimly lit. You can see alot of people walking around in the traditional costumes walking around taking pictures. There are much to see and do in Lijiang.

    Lijiang old town is pretty incredible.

    Lijiang old town is pretty incredible. Regardless of the tacky tourist shops which sell the same stuff...The architecture, laneways, stonework, FLOWERS! plants, rivers, streams and bridges make the experience. We found great authentic, real, inexpensive places to eat in. It is NOT easy to get around on the first day, but the second and third days you get a feel for the layout. But be prepared to get lost! Make sure you have a Chinese version of maps on your phone... We had no plans except to wander, we went up to the viewing platform. We checked out "bar street" but preferred to eat in the smaller alleyway joints. You could take a thousand photos here. Early morning is great for photos with no one around and before the shops open, the wooden doors are still on the shop fronts... There is a real market selling fruit veggies fish meat etc. People do still live in old town thank goodness so you do get a real life feeling. We stayed for 2 nights and we thought that was enough. Highly recommend!

    The hotel was near to the North Gate of Lijiang Old Town, a backdoor leads directly to all the shops and restaurants which was super convenient. If you would like to go for short side trips during your stay, the hotel can help store your luggage. The hotel staff are also very friendly and responsive to our enquries, helping us to arrange for airport pick-up upon our request. The room was clean and spacious as well. Highly recommended!

    The location was excellent, right in the middle of the old town. However it didn’t feel noisy and it was still private. It was very easy to walk around the old town. The hotel manager was very hospitable and went out of his way to provide us with local recommendations. The room itself was comfortable and came with an outdoor seating area. Overall value for money.

    The guesthouse is located in theheart of Lijiang Old Town. The bedroom was very clean and special Naxi style looking. Luckily Joye speaks perfect English and helped us book a local driver to visit places which was very convenient and helpful, this was one of the best memory I had in China.

    Mandy (the receptionist/owner) is great. She speaks English, organizes transport as well as tourist trips. Excellent place and very good value for money. Location of the hotel is in the old town center, bur quiet place.
