Staying at Phoenix Haven was the highlight of our trip to Fenghuang Ancient Town. The location is unbeatable—right in the scenic area and just a short walk to the Tuojiang River. The rooms were spotless and beautifully decorated with local cultural elements, making it a cozy and unique experience. The host was incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay. He provided us with a detailed map of the town and gave excellent recommendations for dining and sightseeing. If you're looking for a comfortable and friendly place to stay in Fenghuang, this is it!

This was a really beautiful and relaxing place to stay. We loved the garden with the music and really enjoyed our little balcony and the decoration in the hotel overall. The owner and the staff were really kind and hospitable for us and went out of their way to help make our stay really comfortable and special.

Really nice hosts, they helped us a lot, offered advice on how to see the town best and were just really generally nice and helpful. The room is in a really nice looking location so it's a great base from which to see the town or just chill on the balcony. The provided ginger candys, toohbrush and tea which was also a bonus. When we were leaving the helped us with our bags and called a local taxi for us, since there aren't that many Didis in this town

The breakfast was very nice with a few different dishes--noodles, eggs, dim sim, fruits and coffee. The staff were really friendly and helpful. They tried all they could to keep our stay comfortable and enjoyable. We really appreciated it. The location is centrial and convenient.

The room was really clean and well-decorated. A very cosy stay with a great view of the village that I think is great value for money. More importantly, the host was really friendly and gave excellent recommendations in terms of food to try and things to do in the village area. The hospitality of the host is very commendable and greatly enhances the experience of the stay Despite the hostel being located up a few flights of stairs, the host was helpful enough to assist us in carrying our luggage and we thought that the stairs were not too many and in fact manageable

The host is a true local - warm and down-to-earth! Not only does he maintain the homestay spotlessly clean and cozy, but he also surprised us with an unforgettable sunrise fishing experience! He shared fascinating Miao fishing traditions, turning it into a fully immersive cultural journey through Western Hunan's heritage. In the afternoon, he took me to an authentic Miao village - the terraced fields, lush forests and traditional stilt houses along the way were like scenes from a painting, completely untouched by commercial tourism, just pure Miao lifestyle. The homestay itself was wonderful with clean, comfortable rooms. Our host was exceptionally welcoming, even inviting us for evening tea while sharing stories about the ancient town. The location couldn't be better - everything from sightseeing to dining was within walking distance.
