The family that own and run this property are wonderful and so friendly. A local Tico tribe of amazing people! The grounds are beautiful and Toucans and Bats frequent daily! The beach directly below the property is wild and beautiful and we were always the only ones there with fine dark brown sand and patches of shells and small rocks for treasure hunting for the day! I felt more relaxed and inspired after our 5 days and the simplicity of life at this place is the real plus! If you want the Hilton Hotel then this isn’t for you but if you want to decompress, enjoy nature and the people you love then this is the place for you!

First of all the location of this Place is what makes it stand out, its elevated over looking Bahi Drake and the sunset views in the evening are breathtaking. Everything about the hotel is fantastic, Victor was the main man for all things during our stay, from checking us in to making oustanding cocktails by the pool. Our room was named Trogon and overlooked the bay, the suspended wooden cabin has all you need and situated on the balcony a hammock perfect for relaxing in. Both breakfast and dinner were excellent, fine dining for dinner and the breakfast overlooking the bay, exceptional to see first thing in the morning also the coffee is made right in front of you as you look out over the ocean! The pool Area is fanstatic and you can look out over the ocean as you are in the pool, you can also access the beach from tha private entrance just a short walk down and over a hanging bridge. (you can see this from the pool) there is also a tower onsite you can get to which gives an amazing view from upon high (as long as heights dont bother you) Theres also plenty of wildlife around if you like that sort of thing, ( iguanas by the pool, even some Coattis roaming around ) every evening there were Macaws and Green parrots passing over and even some Toucans in the trees right next to our room! All in all an exceptional place to stay in the Drake area.

We stayed here for the last two days of our honeymoon. It was the cherish on top. Very warm welcoming by Hellen and Steven and family. They took good care of us, making sure we had all the equipment for our tour in Corcovado national park and arranged the tour and transportation. The room was very nice, clean and private with a fantastic view. We saw a lot of animals close by. The food was outstanding! The best stay we had during our honeymoon in Costa Rica.

Quality food, great staff Staff did put together a lot of stuff to do for us and every thing we asked for was settled in a record time. We were there for new years eve and the tuna was to die for !!! we saw toucans and other great wildlife in our three days at the property Thanks Roy for putting up with us !

Central location, comfortable room.

Central location, comfortable room. The pool was really lovely to sit near and relax, cool off. Staff was exceptional and helpful in all manners. Receptionist helped me book all of my activities and was super accommodating. The restaurant staff were so friendly, and even remembered my name after I came a few times. Very convenient to have on site. It had everything I coud want and price was reasonable. I already want to go back and will book there again.

It was very remote.

It was very remote. We spent three nights there and enjoyed early active mornings and chill afternoons with an early dinner and bedtimes. There's not much to do at night which was fine by us. We loved watching the town wake up in the morning. We went diving at Cano Island and loved the turtles and all of the varieties of fish. The water was so clear when we went, it was one of the better diving experiences in Costa Rica so far!

Fantastic stay.

Fantastic stay. Exactly as described except wifi didn't work in our room, we had to go to the office/breakfast area to use it. The views from the room were spectacular overlooking Drake Bay. We had daily visits from capuchins, macaws, parrots, hummingbirds, etc The beds were comfortable as were the chairs and hammocks on the porch. Handrails going up the steep tire steps to the room would have been helpful. The owner went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Breakfast was delicious and made to order.

Great place to stay if you want to visit Corcovado national...

Great place to stay if you want to visit Corcovado national park. Not only Corcovado is worthwhile but Drake Bay itself as well. I would recommend taking the boat from Sierpe to Drake Bay as it’s very convenient and the boat ride is extremely scenic!

Very nice peaceful place, at the grounds of a friendly costarican family, right on the edge of the rainforest. Beautiful Ganadito beach is at walking distance. The cabin where we slept was new and fine.

The flora and fauna of adjacent parks is amazing but you...

The flora and fauna of adjacent parks is amazing but you must visit them with a guide for the appropriate access and to really appreciate what is there. Drake is a the ideal place from which to reach the parks. We travelled to Drake Bay by intercity bus from San Jose and connected with the ferry. The "wet landing" was a first for us - a genuine adventure where the ferry assistants wade your luggage to shore on their shoulders and the passengers just focus on getting themselves to shore. The ferry takes an hour or so through amazing mangroves. Make sure to tell your hotel to book you on the ferry to avoid misunderstanding -- there are only two ferries per day and you don't want to lose a day/night in Sierpe. The park is amazing --book a tour well in advance as daily entries are limited. Access to the park is by boat. Birds galore, several species of monkey including the mighty howler, tapirs, two species of ant eater, and many more creatures. We did the snorkeling tour too which was also amazing. We saw deep sea turtles, sharks, manta rays and a plethora of species of fish. Beautiful, pristine and rules about not interrupting wildlife. For example, we were watching a turtle and she started to rise for air and we all had to move back 4-6 metres and we had the joy of then watching her float on the surface for a while and just rock in the waves. Hotel Jacamar was a nice stay and good value for money. The location is great and the rooms are spacious and clean and well equipped. There is no tv in the room, but frankly you don’t need it as there is so much beautiful wildlife to observe right from the porch. We appreciated the gated parking for our rental car and they can organize for you to have an early breakfast if you’re going to Corocovado NP and head out early with the tour boat.

Amazing place! The room, the area with the Pool and the breakfirst are amazing. You can walk to the Center of drakebay in 10 Minutes. The staff is super helpful and friendly! They will help you with everything and you can book your Tour to corcovado Nationalpark there. Also they help you organize your Transfer with the boat. Everything is clean. Also you can refill your waterbottles at the Restaurant. We would love to come back one day:)

The hotel upgraded our room for no charge to the Glamping tent instead of the dorms, so my friend and I were happy about that. The views are incredible, lots of wildlife, local community engagement, breath taking beaches. It legit feels like you are on a deserted island, but you can still buy apretados 🍦

The pool is a wonderful addition, and the staff are so lovely and helpful. Breakfast opens from 5am, perfect for those early Drake Bay activities. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, which decent storage and aircon.
