The hotel has great location, right at the beach, surrounded by the palm trees and well looked after garden. We felt immediately disconnected. Ideal for people who search for some quiet time. There is nice restaurant with a beach view and pool. We enjoyed our stay so much. Hotel stuff are very friendly and looked after us really well. We would stay here again.

Soul Shine is the best accommodation choice in the Playa Avellanas area. The cabinas are spacious and clean with comfortable beds, good WiFi, air conditioning and a mini-fridge. The pool is a gorgeous place to relax and the grounds are laden with lush tropical flowers and vegetation. The location is amazing - Avellanas beach is a short walk away, and so are many great restaurants, including Barumis (burgers), Lola’s, La Parruja, and La Esquina, a community space with tacos, sushi, cocktails and other tasty food (visit the public market there on Friday nights for local vendors and live music). You can also walk next door and get some gelato! Owners Yael and Roee are the ultimate hosts and will ensure your stay is as perfect as possible. You really are part of the family when you’re here. And a Soul Shine review wouldn’t be complete without mentioning their delicious brunch! This place serves up some of the best food you’ll find in the area – even in all of Costa Rica. Authentic menu items such as shakshuka, Gypsy King, falafels and avocado toast are all served hot and fresh with crispy salad and yummy tapas on the side. The fresh bread is served warm and melts in your mouth! Soul Shine has everything you need for a perfect stay in the Playa Avellanas/Playa Negra area – comfortable rooms, attentive hosts, amazing food and close to the beach and restaurants. Far off the beaten path is this beautiful gem of a little hotel. The room has a fully equipped mini kitchen, refrigerator, induction stovetop, toaster oven, microwave, rice cooker, cutting board, and all utensils needed. The shower had great water pressure, the finishes were premium. The pool was fresh and brand new, they filled it the night before. I had the feeling no one had stayed in our room before, because parts of our kitchen still had barcode stickers on them. The tv was nice, had all the services. The pool is small, theres 2 for about a dozen rooms, but my partner and i spent the afternoon at one alone. The staff was nice and responds quickly to you via whatsapp. I recommend renting a car to get here, because taxi’s are expensive. This hotel is a bit far away from things, theres just one burger restaurant next door, with a minimarket. Theres more restaurants about 10 minute walk away, and a beautiful beach about 25 minutes walk away named playa avellanas. The hotel says its in tamarindo, but its about 30 minutes drive from there. This is a perfect spot to get away from it all. Oh! And the AC is perfect here.

The hotel is modern and very new. The room was small for the 3 of us, but OK for two nights. The beds were comfortable. It's pricey for the lack of facilities, but its well located near many restaurants and coffee shops and walking distance to the beach. They were building a small pool which will be a bonus when ready. They don't offer breakfast on Monday, but in exchange they washed our clothes, a nice gesture, and will ensure to warn people about this on the website.

Really enjoyed the quaint town of Playa Negra.

Really enjoyed the quaint town of Playa Negra. It is a welcoming refresh after the touristy-ness of Tamarindo. A little off the beaten path, Playa Negra has just everything you need. A few small cafes and restaurants, some small mini markets for groceries, and a beautiful piece of coastline. We were there to surf and it did not disappoint! The bigger wave of Playa Negra was really fun. There was also a smaller beach break right next to it which was great for learning. We also enjoyed going to a Sunday art market at the local skatepark. It is a small town but absolutely beautiful! Would definitely come again!
