My stay at Forellenhof was delightful, thanks to the wonderful support from Lisa and her sister. Their hospitality made visit memorable. The location was great, right in the heart of historic Berleburg, on the Goetheplatz with its beautiful slate facades, on a hill with great views over the city and the surrounding mountains and in spitting distance of the castle and the Schlosspark. A nice Greek restaurant with outside seating is just opposite. We were in the new part of the hotel, the 'Fliegende Klassenzimmer' (after one of my favourite children's books by Erich Kästner), on the lower level. This wasn't as quirky as the 'Alte Schule', the older part, but had a little sitting area outside overlooking the park below, with afternoon and evening sun, which was lovely. Breakfast was excellent, in a beautiful light-filled room in the 'Alte Schule' with amazing views. The different parts of the hotel are all lovingly restored, with every room in the old part, the 'Alte Schule', looking different. But the very best feature was the amazingly friendly and helpful staff who all made us feel very welcome.

Perfect appartement for our overnight stay. Close to the skiing area we were visiting. It’s spacious and comfortable. Views on the hill from this apartment in the morning, even from the breakfast table, are great. Really nice hosts too. Would like to stay again when in the area.
