We were accommodated in 'Landhaus' which is a very spacious room that was well designed with a huge comfortable bed and large en-suite bathroom. Although we didn't have breakfast, we did have our evening meals in the restaurant. The meals were excellent and reasonably priced. As part of the tourist tax we were given tickets for free travel on the local trains and busses. We caught the train from the local station (5 to 10 min walk) into Freiburg for the day - quick, easy and free! There is a honesty fridge in the common area with wine and soft drinks, a great idea. We had a great two night stay and would not hesitate in coming back!

The breakfast and all the meals at the hotel were truly excellent. I would encourage people to stay at this hotel for the food alone, but the staff were all courteous, effective and helpful. This is a fine example of a fine family owned hotel with excellent food. The location in a pretty village about 12 miles from downtown Freiburg was very good for walking and enjoying the open air life.

Sankt Margin is a small German village located at the top of a mountain it's always cold at night, we personally had rainy days in the mid of August. The problem there is that everything is closed at 18:00 PM and you can't find any place to buy your basic needs there are no pharmacies, stores, laundry places, or small restaurants (Pizza, hamburger..) Just the hotel that didn't serve everything

There's a lovely museum there, and the town has three restaurants where you can eat well. Driving further into the Gottertal valley, it's very beautiful; St. Peter is a charming town with a monastery church. The nearby lakes are also very beautiful.

The village of St.

The village of St. Märgen is very charming, well-maintained, and clean. It boasts a beautiful church with a cloister, and beautiful rural scenery, pastures, and woods. There are two small supermarkets and several hotels with restaurants, two of which we tried, offering good-quality traditional dishes and friendly, hospitable waiters: Der Hirscen, which is also a lovely hotel, and Waldkuchi, which offers unique vegetarian dishes.

Sankt Märgen is a pretty little town with good restaurants, cafes, and an outdoor swimming pool. The location is beautiful, nestled in the Black Forest. Our dog also had a wonderful holiday. There are many lovely paths for walks in and around the town, and they are kept very clean. The signage for the numerous hiking trails is also exemplary.

From Sankt Märgen, you can easily explore and hike through the Black Forest Highlands. The inns still have a genuine, authentic charm, which you can feel in the service and the quality of the food. The guest card allows you to explore a wide area around Sankt Märgen. You can practically always leave your car at the hotel, giving you free rein to wander through the endless fields and forests.

The reception is very friendly and welcoming, the hotel itself is very old but the owners are renovating and very good but the smell of paint in the lobby is still present. The hotel is very comfortable and welcoming and the bathrooms are brand new! Breakfast takes place in the restaurant hall, plenty of room. Breakfast was very good and varied with two types of set menus but unfortunately I got sick and had a stomach ache all day and by the end of the day I felt really sick.

It was a really good vibe the staff of the hotel were friendly, it was very clean and the breakfast was excellent with great views overlooking the Black Forest. There was also a games room with a pool table and table tennis so I really enjoyed playing so overall very impressed
