The hotel is in a good location beside the cable car station. The price I paid was incredible value for the quality of the facilities and food…the breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve had. The four course dinner was very good quality although the portion size could perhaps have been a little larger after a day of hiking. Cake was also provided in the afternoon which unfortunately I missed out as I was out. I also appreciated the travel pass which saved me a lot of money for my bus journey home as well as a visit to nearby Goslar. I was also very impressed by the staff at mealtimes as well as the man at reception who was very welcoming.

The room was very cozy, and the sauna was very good!

The room was very cozy, and the sauna was very good! When the weather didn't allow us to explore too much, we went to sauna to relax! I would suggest to provide kettle if the guest need. It doesn't have to be in every room, but sometimes it would make the guests more comfortable.

Our goal was to hike up the Brocken mountain.

Our goal was to hike up the Brocken mountain. We had fantastic weather; the sun shone all day. The hiking trail is well-marked and follows the Brocken Railway tracks. Hiking poles make the climb easier. For obvious reasons, the rustling forests are not present. However, the "new forest" is also very magical and worth seeing.

You can sleep with the window open without being woken by...

You can sleep with the window open without being woken by street noise. It's an ideal base for long walks with the dog. We always enjoyed a hearty breakfast at their breakfast house. In the evenings, we always ate at Bavaria Alm, which had a wide selection. Dogs were also welcome there.

From our room, we had a beautiful view of the Brocken...

From our room, we had a beautiful view of the Brocken mountain. Torfhaus is a great starting point for hiking or driving in many directions. There are two restaurants to choose from in town. We particularly enjoyed the Wurmberg mountain and the treetop walkway in Bad Harzburg.

A truly lovely hotel.

A truly lovely hotel. The rooms are beautiful and spotlessly clean. We could even see the Brocken mountain from the bed. The staff were always friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be back :)

It was booked incorrectly by mistake, but we were able to...

It was booked incorrectly by mistake, but we were able to move into our desired accommodation the next day, which was truly exceptional as we had booked during peak season. We were also able to extend our stay by one day. I am very satisfied with the service and the staff, and will definitely book a cottage there again.

Excellent location in Torfhaus for all the forest walks in the area, and with the viewing tower right on the doorstep. The house we stayed in was excellent too, with everything we needed, and very nicely put together.
