Spotlessly clean, well equipped kitchen, fabulous location. Although on a road with some traffic, Elmar’s place is a stone’s throw from the train station from which you can explore the whole Blakc Forest for FREE with the KONUS card (included with the tourist tax). There are fabulous walking routes direct from the property, and beautiful views of the forest from the balcony. The garden is a lovely haven created by the owner where he grows his own food, keeps bees and chickens. He was kind enough to leave us some of his honey, homemade jam and apple juice to try, all delicious. He baked a loaf of bread during the week for us - so kind, helpful and generous.

Perfect accommodation for the black forest!! Perfect location in the central black forest area with plenty of tourist activities to do within the area (within 30 minutes) but also reasonable distances to drive to the northern (e.g. Baden-Baden) and southern (e.g. Feldburg, Freiburg, Basel) areas within an hour or two. The scenic and well maintained roads make journeying around well worth it. There is a train station 1 minute from the apartment if you wish to move around by rail, and plenty of pedestrian/cycle paths in the local area and black forest generally. The apartment was clean and tidy with all amenities required for a 10 night stay. Ramped access with wide doorways was perfect for a wheelchair user, we could even fit an off-road wheelchair with plenty of room, that is much wider than a standard wheelchair. Plenty of room for us (2 guests) and all of our luggage though easily setup for 4. Everything you could ask for in the kitchen, two modern bathrooms, one of which is a walk-in shower so good for accessibility. Spacious and inviting living room. Plenty of room in the bedrooms, again good for manoeuvring a wheelchair with ease. Lovely outdoor settings to sit outside and bask in the sunshine if you wish. Loads of supermarkets within a few minutes in either of the two towns that surround the apartment. Zell am Harmersbach has a few cafés and restaurants and was a nice little town to wander through. There is also a hotel-restaurant about 5-10 minute walk from the apartment. Friendly and welcoming hosts who met us on arrival and showed us around the apartment and explained everything, thankyou!!

The facilities in the main part of the hotel were good. We ate in the restaurant on both evenings and no complaints, can recommend the steak in particular, it was excellent. Staff were friendly and we were made to feel welcome. Pool and spa were clean and tidy. Situated outside the centre of Zell in a residential area so may not suit everyone.

Very well located family run Hotel and Restaurant. Playground for kids and skittle alley at the property. Train station for regional trains at 100m. Hiking trails start behind the house. Ideal for kids.
