It's a really cost-effective hotel. You can see the pyramids and it's close to the Great Egyptian Museum (GEM). The staff were so kind and the hotel itself had an Egyptian feel, which was nice. The bedding was clean and the hot water came out well. It was so nice to see the pyramids in the window. We were very satisfied :)

I really enjoyed my stay at Akhnaton Pyramids Hotel! I was traveling with my husband, and our main goal in Cairo was to visit the Pyramids — this hotel turned out to be the perfect choice. When we landed in Cairo, the hotel’s driver was already waiting for us at the airport. He was polite, professional, and so helpful, which immediately put us at ease after the flight. When we arrived at the hotel, Maria, the host, was waiting to welcome us. She was incredibly warm, friendly, and professional, instantly making us feel at home. She showed us the hotel facilities and personally escorted us to our room. The room was spotless, comfortable, and had the most amazing balcony view of the Pyramids. To top it off, Maria even offered us welcome drinks on the rooftop terrace — such a thoughtful touch! Throughout our stay, Maria went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. She gave us helpful tips about exploring Cairo and was always just a message away whenever we needed assistance. Abdul was equally responsive and kind, which made everything so easy for us. The rooftop terrace was one of the highlights of the hotel — the view of the Pyramids from there is breathtaking, especially at sunset. The restaurant on the terrace was wonderful too. Moaz, who served us in the evenings, had an amazing vibe. His cheerful attitude, great music selection, and warm hospitality made every dinner so enjoyable. The food was absolutely delicious, and my husband and I especially loved their fresh guava juice — unforgettable! Breakfast was another great experience. Amr, impeccably dressed and always smiling, together with Fouad and the rest of the team, made sure we felt well taken care of every morning. Their friendly service added so much to our stay. The location couldn’t have been better just perfect for visiting the Pyramids and other nearby attractions. The hotel also helped us organize tours, which made exploring Cairo stress-free and enjoyable. We would definitely stay here again

FAQs about hotels in Cairo

Resting Place of Pharaohs

Born of an ancient civilisation, Cairo is a vast metropolis centred around the Nile. Its sheer scale can feel overwhelming (especially when flying over it into Cairo Airport), so plan ahead. An obvious starting point are the Giza Pyramids. Although the pharaohs are long gone, the grandeur of their burial pyramids, the Sphinx and Solar Boat are testament to their ambition.

The city’s Egyptian Museum houses a dazzling display of ancient Egyptian artefacts, including finds from Tutankhamun’s tomb in Luxor. Around the corner is Tahrir, a huge square and focal point of the 2011 Egyptian Revolution.

East is Islamic Cairo, home to 9th-century Ibn Tulun Mosque, Al-Azhar Mosque (site of the world’s oldest university), and the Khan el-Khalili souk – remember to haggle. The Citadel, with its elegant Mohammed Ali Pasha Mosque, sits on a hill offering far-reaching city views.

If you want to step out of cultural tours, take a Nile cruise by felucca, spot wildlife in Wadi Digla desert park or visit Egypt’s top theme parks: Dream Park and Magic Land, where you can tour Egyptian TV studios.

Before heading to your Cairo accommodation, sample the local cuisine – the falafel and fuul (bean paste) are delicious. Turkish coffee is a staple and there are hundreds of shisha bars, while major Cairo hotels have bars serving alcohol.

Egypt is a truly amazing country, especially Cairo, which is beautiful because of its kind and friendly people. The city is lively and vibrant, with incredible cultural and historical sites such as the Grand Egyptian Museum, the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, and the famous Giza Pyramids. Visitors can enjoy walking along the Corniche, dining at Nile-view restaurants, and exploring traditional markets like Khan El Khalili and Al-Hussein, along with the many cafes around. For those seeking relaxation and marine activities, Sharm El Sheikh offers wonderful boat trips and diving opportunities to explore the beauty of the Red Sea. Overall, Egypt combines rich history, vibrant culture, and stunning natural landscapes, making it an unforgettable travel experience.

Cairo is pretty.

Cairo is pretty. As long as you don't talk to anyone, your kind heart won't be scammed. The pyramids are beautiful, added with a private camel experience -- it's heaven. My camel experience is a little crazy in the good way because the camel whisperer let me climb the pyramid, half way. It's truly an experience not wasted. And I was able to visit the biggest mosque in Cairo and biggest church in the entire Arabic area; both at the same day.

Busy, city with charm and great character! I always felt safe and welcomed travelling solo. Ubers and tuk tuks easy transport. Interesting experience learning to cross the roads like a local!! Tests your nerves and skills!! Good local food and coffee and quite a cafe vibe building! Get out in the morning to see sites and walk around. Afternoon, evening city wakes up!! Visit Cairo Tower for the view and great Bedouin style cafe in the grounds. Visit Felfela for great felafel,

THE HISTORY is unmatched!!

THE HISTORY is unmatched!! We only had one day to spend at the museum and the pyramids. that was my BIGGEST regret! I would say dedicate one whole day just for museums, and another for pyramids+ other attractions. Shopping at Khan el Khalili was great too for people who enjoys shopping, I just don't like the haggling part. but the stuffs are super cheap tho.

Cairo is a city of 20 million people.

Cairo is a city of 20 million people. It is a mess but also an intriguingly exciting place. If you are an adventurer and would like to experience stuff with your hands and nose and mouth - this is your city. Buzzing all day (especially by night) and people are very kind. As an eastern-european tourist I was getting quite an attention from them. Also - there are scammers all around. If they come to you to help, they often expect some "baksis" :) Keep small notes of money with you if you want to tip them - or otherwise don't let them "help" The Pyramids are an absolute MUST. Incredible experience. If you have the money, hire a local to take you around the city. Otherwise Über transfer is working fine. In the rush hour however, Über drivers may accept only cash..

The kindness and the heart that meets you at Kempinski on Nile is unmatched. You feel like a member of a big family that genuinely cares for you. Everyone is highly professional. If you travel alone you don’t need to worry about anything as the Concierge team will look out for your safety and your best. Housekeeping, room service, butler service all superb. Finally Ladies in Red gracefully follow up the totality of your stay and comfort. I am deeply grateful to everyone at the hotel.

The hotel is actually the 3th floor of a regular apartment building which is reached by stairs only. From the terrace you have one of the best views of the Pyramids you can get. The owner and personnel are extremely friendly and helpful. We had the junior suite which is a very nice room. In retrospect we paid too much though, about 115 US$ per night. Later on we saw the price was much lower. To earn 5 stars there are some annoying or irritating things to eliminate if possible.

Arranged at last minute and hotel was very helpful at arranging airport taxi. Room was passable and rather clean. Food ok (breakfast buffet), some items are regularly out though. It is pretty cheap and close to Giza pyramids and those are the only advantages. View from the tarrance is ok, but the whole area looks rather depresing due to lots of poorly treated animals, unfinished constructions, chaotic design and garbage. But that is esentially Egypt.

Very nice hotel with the best friendly staff. I came in the night time and they gave me very cute clean room in Egyptian pyramids style. In the morning l had tasty breakfast with the amazing Pyramids view. The hotel has two restaurants flours, so you can see the nice views from both of them. Also the price was good. We really enjoyed this small Airbnb close to the Pyramids (Walking distance) Youssef and his staff took care of us with great hospitality and the airport transfer went very well. We stayed on 3 hotels during our stay in egypt and this is the only one that we had a positive experience. The other 2 are both 5 star hotels so Sequoia even with no stars is 1000 times better than some of the big ones.
