Tramline connecting to Calpe and Benidorm for €2.50 return if you want to see something different. Lovely town, but if you want to spend time in the centre, its best to stay in town or have your own transport. If not, a resort hotel is a good choice too. Altea old town is extremely picturesque, with amazing views of the area. Altea is a beautiful village with an old town center on top of a hill. It's a lively town center with shops, restaurants, live music and beautiful sea views. It has comfortable beds, is clean, the air conditioning works well, and most importantly, it is right on the edge of the Old Town. This means the nicest shops and restaurants on top of the hill are only a short walk away, but the rooms are away from most of the associated crowd noise.
