Kilpisjärvi in winter is a magical experience. The village is located in the far north of Finland, in the heart of Lapland. It is a popular destination for winter activities such as skiing, snowmobiling, and ice fishing. The area is also known for its stunning scenery, with snow-covered forests, frozen lakes, and the majestic Saana fell. One of the highlights of a winter trip to Kilpisjärvi is the opportunity to see the Northern Lights. Hiking trails are well signposted.

Hiking trails are well signposted. The supermarket at the center is very good. Public transport connections could be better but the twice-daily bus to/from Rovaniemi is very reliable. Tour operators organize day tours to the Acrtic Sea in Norway. They sound good but unfortunately were cancelled in summer 2021 due to the covid crap.

I was in Kilpisjarvi for 3 days to x- country ski but my arrival coincided with a big storm so I spent a lot of time snowbound in my cabin. This was quite a pleasant experience as it was well equiped and you could watch satellite TV from all around the world. The central complex had a nice restaurant and the nearby Haltinmaa did a great value buffet. The Arctic Express bus from Tromso to Rovaniemi stops 100 metres away. I hope to return one day and actually be able to ski !

It is located in from of the mountain and Kilpisjärvi lake. There has a gentle wave from the lake that created a Sami music. The room temperature is very warm and it provides simple cooking facility.

Breakfast buffet with a wide choice. Good restaurant. Very good location as close to the lake and mountain Saana. Sauna was very close to the hotel room. Very friendly and helpful staff.
