The hotel exceeded my expectations. From the moment I arrived and throughout my stay, I felt excellent. The breakfast was very good. The place where breakfast was served was superb. The garden behind the hotel is something else. I stayed in the main building and I really liked it.

I stayed at Le Déclic Hôtel in Bayeux with my son during the D-Day commemorations, and our time there was nothing short of wonderful. The hotel is elegant without being fussy—modern, thoughtfully decorated, and genuinely inviting. Everything was spotlessly clean, from the lobby to the lounge to our room. And oh, the bed—so comfortable I briefly considered skipping the commemorations to stay tucked under the covers with a book. After long days of walking, biking, and sightseeing, it was the perfect place to recharge. We especially loved the coffee and hot chocolate, both rich and delicious (the hot chocolate alone is worth coming back for). One small regret: we didn’t try the breakfast, which looked absolutely delicious every morning. Don’t make our mistake—go for it. A huge thank-you to Michel and Miquel, who were endlessly kind and patient with my clumsy French and offbeat requests—whether it was finding rags or helping us store and care for our bikes. Their warmth and helpfulness made the experience feel personal and memorable. Le Déclic is a perfect launchpad for exploring Normandy, whether you're on foot, on two wheels, or behind the wheel. Stylish, comfortable, and full of heart—it’s the kind of place that lingers in your memory long after you’ve checked out.

FAQs about hotels in Bayeux

Rich History and Medieval Beauty

Bayeux is a medieval French town in the region of Lower Normandy, known for the 11th-century Bayeux Tapestry which depicts scenes from the conquest of England by William the Conquerer in 1066. Registered by UNESCO as ‘Memory of the World’, this historic tapestry is 70 metres long and gives us information about the way of life in the Middle Ages.

The Norman-Romanesque Notre Dame Cathedral has impressive stained glass windows, bas-relief sculptures and a crypt with 15th-century frescoes beneath its floor. Consecrated in 1077, this structure is the place where the Bayeux Tapestry was kept for about seven centuries.

Opened in 1864, the botanical garden of Bayeux, which is home to the popular Weeping Beech tree and about 400 more trees, is open daily for free. You can wander around the picturesque old part of the city or visit the vibrant city centre with the modern shops and restaurants.

Crossed by the Aure River and situated on the train route to Paris, Bayeux is 7 km from the coast of the English Channel and 20 km from Caen – Carpiquet Airport. Booking.com will help you find the right hotel, guest house or apartment in Bayeux and the city of Caen.

The cathedral is so beautiful as is the whole town.

The cathedral is so beautiful as is the whole town. It truly is postcard perfect. We loved the Battle of Normandy museum and learned so much about the WWII history of the town. The military cemetery and memorial to journalists are both well worth visiting. And we also did a half day D Day tour which was very good. And it was only two hours by train from Mont St Michel which is the most incredible place.

Beautiful town, great location to take a trip to Normandy beaches. The tapestries were moved to the UK and the Tapestry museum closed on Sept 1st for two years! Most restaurants were closed on Sunday and Monday and you definitely need a reservation for dinner if you want a good meal. some restaurants were closed on Tuesday too! If you take a full day tour of Normandy I would suggest staying the night at Bayeux because there is traffic at the end of the day heading back to Paris.

Bayeux is a lovely, well-maintained, safe and easily walkable town. We used it as a base for three full-day tours to the Normandy beaches and Mont Saint-Michel, so we only had time to explore the Cathedral on our own. Unfortunately, the Bayeux Tapestry had been temporarily removed by the time we arrived, so we did not get to visit that. It is advisable to make restaurant reservations if there are ones you do not want to miss, but seeing the sites was more of our priority. We were willing to eat around 6:30 or 7:00 and we did not have any problem finding a satisfactory meal.

Bayeux is a small town, but is centrally located to get to Mont St Michael and D-Day activities. Not much to do in the town itself. There was one highlight in the town itself and that was the restaurant La Rapiere. We had a great dining experience there.

Upon entering Bayeux we were stunned by the beauty of the Cathedral. The town itself was lovely and we enjoyed the markets. We were sad not to be able to see the Bayeux tapestry as it was being restored. No worries, we will just return in two years time. Of course, WWII had a huge impact on Normandy and Bayeux. We visited the landing beaches easily from Bayeux and the war museum at Bayeux is not to be missed. The largest second world war cemetery is to be found in Bayeux also.

Good value for money, very close to town centre of bayeux, 10 to 15 minute walk. Plenty of free parking on site. Bed was large and comfortable but took up most of the room. Perfect for a short stay. Breakfast available at €6, was basic continental but value for money...Cereal, French bread, sliced bread, jam, cheese, cake, yoghurt, juice and hot drinks. There is a microwave for client use.
