One pub in village that doesn't serve food on Tuesday and Wednesday. Nearest alternative is Askrigg with more choice, but booking may be needed. Hawes in other direction is also a possibility. Fish and chips van visits on Tuesday. Ice cream shop and cafe in village open until 18:00. Remains of Roman hill fort just outside village. Bainbridge has a rather strange road layout.

A lovely friendly, efficient & caring hostess.

A lovely friendly, efficient & caring hostess. Better fitting blinds would be beneficial. The area is beautiful & interesting. Lots of good places to eat out at. The area suites all age groups with walks, museums, shops & some water sports.

Bainbridge is an old Wensleydale village offering good walking and driving routes, close by to the market town of Hawes. The buildings in Bainbridge are full of character and Riverside Cottage has a long history as a mill. The property is on a bus route (just outside the property) with connections to Hawes and Leyburn. Bainbridge has a coffee shop/ice cream parlour which we used frequently and an historic pub at the top of the village. If you have never visited the Yorkshire Sales you are missing a golden opportunity in life.

At the beginning of June when we stayed there were also people camping on the village green on their way to Appleby horse fair. Pubs closed for the duration so we went to Askrigg to eat in the evening. Otherwise everything fine. We spent a quiet night there.

I did much walking across fields and local roads, as I'm a very keen amateur photographer, and couldn't get enough of all the local beautiful views. I eat out 3 times at local places, only a short drive away. Found it easy to get around Bainbridge with either walks or short car journeys. The only problem I had with the journey there and journey back was the A1. On the journey there this problem caused me hours delay but the journey home it was a matter of 10 to fifteen minutes. If you do this journey on the A1 and that road closure is not going on your journey would probably be straight forward. I was just unlucky.

Delightful location, easy to walk around the village and handy for Hawes and Leyburn. We ate at the local pub which was not a great experience - very average food, but charming staff. Much better facilities in Hawes.

The Rose & Crown has a superb location overlooking the village of Bainbridge three or four miles from Hawes. It's a comfortable old inn with plenty of room inside and out. Parking is excellent, nice views, and the interiors are full of country charm. Comfortable bed in a very clean room. My breakfast was superb. The sausages came from the local butcher and were gorgeous. The hosts, a man and wife team who've only been in post for six weeks, were extremely hospitable.

What a Brilliant place to stay!! The Riverside provided an exceptionally clean, comfortable, accommodation in the heart of the beautiful village of Bainbridge. Roxana ably managed to give us privacy balanced with friendship and care throughout our stay. We would recommend this to anyone who enjoys walking, the countryside and excellent food.

Comfortable beds in a very private first floor room accessed by quaint external stone staircase. Very good shower with plenty of hot water. Super freshly cooked breakfast served by friendly host. Bainbridge is a beautiful village around a large village green with a great historic pub.

Tricky location to find even though the directions are good. Very welcoming and helpful host. Great Breakfast, cooked to order using local produce. Bainbridge is a good base to explore from.

The folks working at hotel were good. The hotel is a bit rustic but sort of fun. The breakfast was very nice. Would stay again.
