We had a great time here. The hotel itself is very cute. It feels very cozy. The are around the hotel with the pier invites for a very relaxing afternoon, but it is also a good base for day trips into snowdonia. Something I'd love to especially point out is the employees. We felt warmly welcomed, people were very nice and the food was amazing. We hope we will be able to visit again.

Apart from the university, there is little of note in Bangor. Decent restaurants and pubs are few and far between. Not recommended for an extended vacation ... If you want to visit the area and have a car, stay in Chester.

A small, compact city that's a little run-down and in need of some government cash to bring more people in. We've never been in such a quiet city centre on a Saturday night; plenty of pubs, not enough people! So many Turkish barbers, so few decent restaurants...and no hotels! Plenty of take-out eateries, but that's not what tourists need! Lovely setting, Welsh government: you're missing out on tourism in Bangor, so splash the cash and glam it up...decent restaurants, a couple of hotels and a modern bar or two. The city should be very grateful for the Black Bull, JD Wetherspoon's, the only busy pub in town!

Like many, many towns and villages in North Wales, Bangor...

Like many, many towns and villages in North Wales, Bangor could be a mecca for visitors and could rival any honeypot in Britain. Could. For some reason, either by deliberate design or accident, most of this potential goes unrealised, so that towns are not just 'quiet' - they are borderline dreary, with boarded up shops and a sense of desolation. We like Bangor Tandoori and I think there are some nice cafes, and we have often enjoyed evening strolls round the university and the quite lanes near the pier, but we would only really view Bangor as a base for visiting the Snowdonia mountains.

Disappointing, very run down with lots of empty shop units. Easy to park. Very few shops overall. Could be a lovely location but needs investment to improve the area. A shame as I am sure a lot of tourists would visit if it had more to offer.

There is some interesting architecture and the pier but Bangor itself feels a bit rundown. Really struggled to find good places to eat and drink. However, it's a great location for exploring the wider area.

Haulfryn is in the elevated part of Bethesda, meaning it's a bit away from the main road and has absolutely stunning views of the mountains of Eryri. Off road parking is a great bonus at Haulfryn as there's lots of on-street parking in the area, I can't believe how quiet the house was, it's great for folk wanting some peace and quiet after a day exploring north Wales. A well equipped kitchen for cooking, and Deliveroo available when you don't want to cook. Would definitely stay again when I'm next in the area.

Really welcoming owners and staff, truly exceptional food, nice bar and seating areas. Amazing spot to base for our adventures in Northern Wales. Locals in the bar and owners full of information about local spots to visit and local drinks to sample. Rooms were clean, fresh and well appointed with everything you need. Within 20 minutes of Zip World, Caernarfon, Anglesea and many other locations. Great little based for striking out into Snowdonia and surrounding regions.
