The entrance into hotel grounds was very narrow and few parking places. There are plenty of walking trails, busses and a train station all within walking distance where you can get to Glasgow or further afield. Also, a lovely cafe and place to hire cycles just under the arches next to the hotel. Had to go into Dumbarton to get evening meal where large selection of restaurants suitable for all tastes and would recommend The Black Rooster as food and service was really good.

Lovely small village in banks of river Clyde.

Lovely small village in banks of river Clyde. It is a great location for accessing the south lochs and trossachs . There is also a train station at bowling to travel into Glasgow easily. Luss village is not far away which is the prettiest village in all of Scotland. Tons to see and do

Really amazing place, stunning building, historic and right by the boats on a lock. Great take away close by but kitchen was superb, decor really well thought out, great common lounge and kitchen area, great breakfast food left. Was a fantasic find. Recommend to all but for us whom are both over 55 years old it was luxury at a great price.

It was a pleasant location and all the facilities were there for a self catering location but you have to be able to access your e-mail for information to gain access to the property when you get there ( you need a mobile phone )

The hotel is the old customs house for Bowling Harbour (...

The hotel is the old customs house for Bowling Harbour (hence the name) which is the start/end of the Forth & Clyde canal, so if you enjoy local history there is plenty to keep you entertained, but if you are looking for tons of shopping and night life I suggest Glasgow city center, if you are looking for relaxed comfort this is for you. The hotel is in somewhat of a quirky location, but do not let this dissuade you, that is part of the charm of the building and surroundings

Bowling is on the train line, so it is handy to travel into Glagow from there, alternatively you could cycle or walk on the cycle trail. There is bicycle hire shop in Bowling, as well as a lovely cafe next door. Although the only pub in Bowling does not serve food, they offered to arrange a take away delivery for us. People in the pub were extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome. We would definitely go back
