I just love this hotel! Ive stayed in a lot of hotels in recent years but this one is an absolute favourite of mine for the generous facilities, excellent staff and amazing hotel vibe. Also, I like the super functional room and toilet (although very compact) for a 2-3 day stay and because of this particular hotel, I always look for a Moxy now wherever I get to travel! At less than 100£/night with breakfast and taxes included it's an absolute no brainer and totally recommended!

We had a wonderful time here. Location is perfect, far enough from the town center to feel a bit the countryside but also close enough to be able to walk there (and the walk along the canal is highly recommended!). Comfortable rooms and good food.

FAQs about hotels in Chester

A Walk Through History

Featuring half-timbered buildings, almost complete city walls and a wealth of Roman heritage, beautiful Chester sits by the border with Wales.

The southernmost gate of the walls overlooks the River Dee, and the road leading north is one of 4 in the city to follow the original Roman roads. To the east, the Roman Gardens include a reconstructed underfloor heating system.

Nearby Grosvenor Park has remains of a stone Roman amphitheatre, thought to have been built on the world’s largest wooden amphitheatre at the time. Over the river in the suburb of Handbridge is a 2nd-century shrine to Minerva, and an informative display in the Grosvenor Museum provides the background to all this heritage.

In the west is Chester Racecourse and nearby are the medieval castle remains. More medieval buildings line the cobbled city centre streets. Some of these are The Rows, black-and-white timbered buildings housing 2 levels of shops. Other shopping options are the indoor market by the cathedral, and the Cheshire Oaks Outlet Village in Ellesmere Port to the north. The road out there passes Chester Zoo, one of the UK’s best zoos.

Booking.com’s range of Chester accommodation includes hotels with swimming pools, guest houses by the train station and B&Bs with parking near Chester Airport.

Beautiful city, lots to see and do.

Beautiful city, lots to see and do. A walk along the city walk from Eastgate helps to orientate you to the city and its history. Also loved the Cathedral, where we enjoyed an impromptu rehearsal concert. The people we met in Chester were warm and friendly. Huxley's cafe was a great spot for tea and cake at the end of the walk, the cakes baked by Olga, the owner’s wife were delicious, we enjoyed a Christmas slice. The service was warm and welcoming. An eatery we would highly recommend is Poco Small Plates, Hoole, the food was wonderful and the service outstanding. A great find. We loved our first visit to Chester and look forward to visiting again.

Chester has great Roman ruins, terrific city walls which are an excellent walk, an interesting if slightly basic shopping area. Above all it has some outstanding restaurants, a really surprising number for the size of the city. The Grill and the Forge were particularly outstanding but the quality overall was superb.

Overall, the Chester Grosvenor met my expectations; friendly staff, superb food, good sized rooms and spa facilties too. It's central location makes it easy to explore Chester's famous Rows and roman ruins, on foot. It also has car parking facilities, which is a bonus for a city centre hotel. Will definitely return.
