-The property is located in the beautiful town of Norton. It's a beautiful property! -Matt & Abby are great hosts! It was lovely of them to remember us from our last trip in 2019. -The 2 bedroom cottage by the pond was clean, cozy, well equipped. You are guaranteed to have a good nights sleep! We loved our 2 night stay here, during a trip to UK from Australia. Steve and his staff were very friendly and obliging. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone. We had both evening meals in the pub and the food was delicious and great value for money. The pub was cosy and friendly. Steve sat in the bar chatting to us one of the nights- a great friendly guy! Our room was an outside one, which suited us. Decent size, very clean and tidy. Heating great during the cold weather. Outside location is beautiful. Lake at the back of the property was gorgeous and nice to walk around. Very picturesque. It had snowed the day we arrived, so looked even more beautiful. The lake completely froze over. Our 14 year old son loved skimming pieces of ice across the surface of the lake. Big novelty for him, coming from Australia. The breakfast included each day was great. A few hot options to choose from also the usual toast, cereals, yoghurts, tea/coffee etc. Steve the owner/Chef would ask us what we wanted and was very open to mixing up the menu if we preferred something different to what was offered .The yolk colour of the local eggs were amazing!! Steve said they only use regular local produce. During our stay, Steve and his staff allowed us to use their commercial washing machine and drier for our clothes. This was completely complimentary and included all washing liquid. One morning we had to be out early.Steve’s laundry staff allowed us to put a load of washing on and said they’d “ take care of the rest”. When we returned for the day, our clothes had been washed and dried and placed back on our bed in the room. Amazing service! On our last day, Steve allowed us a late check out at 3pm with no extra charge. This is not a usual service you normally get! Plenty of room for parking.

Yes, there are potholes along the track.

Yes, there are potholes along the track. Please realise that the property is accessed via a farm track and not a road. If you can't cope with that thought, please don't book! It is deeply unfair to Eileen to remove points for such a matter utterly beyond her control and not remotely related to the actual stay experience. Eileen is relaxed but attentive host. Nothing is too much trouble (including finding a man to look at my exhaust!) but she is not 'in your face' She seems to understand what her guests need from their stay and help them achieve it. I would add, if communal breakfast is not your thing, probably not the place for you. Ditto dogs and cats (they are all gorgeous and exceptionally well-behaved pets). There is also some occasional 'neighbour noise' from other guests at busy times (doors opening and closing, voices from below, etc.) which is to be expected in what is essentially a large family building. It is minimal and usually mornings, bedtime and probably just me being hyper sensitive. The merits of this establishment lie in the personal, unique, good ol' fashioned service. It is not a place for hectic people, or those that cannot share space. It definitely for those that seek quiet solace, beautiful views, slight breakfast socialising and a track off the beaten road. To end, the house itself is tastefully furnished in a modern country home style, very appropriate to the building, unfussy and very clean. The grounds and gardens themselves are fabulous and a continual source of improvement and growth (literally). Have a wander (with or without a dog if they are willing to show you round), luxuriate in silence and absorb truly green, lush fresh air.
