The location is just lovely and warm. One really feels connected with the traditional aspect of Scottish living. The staff is welcoming and helpful, I am vegan and they arranged to have a suitable option in the continental breakfast buffet, which was greatly appreciated. The location is very close to Balmoral castle and to lovely villages like Ballater. 10/10 recommended.

Ballater Hostel is an amazing place. Located in the beautiful and tranquil village of Ballater, it's a great place to stay. Dominique is really kind and will give you the best suggestions for trips, hikes, and food. She is always ready to help guests. Lovely hosts who gave very helpful advice about the area. Very welcoming . Food lovely. Drying cupboard for wet boots and outer clothing. Lovely room with kettle and plenty selection to make hot drinks. Snacks available. Board games and a great selection of books to read both local and fiction.

Lovely little place with high-quality furnishings. Just a short walk from the middle of Ballater but feels quiet and peaceful. The lounge/dining room catches the late afternoon sun and has a view up to the oak woods of Craigendarroch hill. It's quite a small place (the reasonable price reflects this - it's in a 'premium' part of the Highlands) but the quality of the armchair, sofa and dining chairs would put many a grand country hotel to shame and made for a relaxing and memorable stay.
