We were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary with all our family and the service, food and hospitality we received was absolutely fantastic. The breakfast in the morning was perfect. The rooms immaculate with a coffee machine, and toiletries provided. We also received a cute little box of chocolates and a note personally to us, wishing us a happy anniversay!! So cute!

I couldn't fault our trip - it was simply wonderful from start to finish. We had booked a king room which was amazing, so spacious, clean and modern. Topped off by a beautiful mountain view. The surrounding area had lovely walks with scenery for miles! The Blind Bull staff were all so friendly and welcoming, taking a genuine interest in your stay. There were so many small touches which made the stay feel extra special! The food was exceptional - everything tasted so good so I would definitely recommend booking an evening dinner in the restaurant.

Loved our stay here. The hotel is clean and comfortable with added touches like free hot drinks and cake in the afternoons. The food was good and breakfast buffet was outstanding. It’s a great location from which to explore the Peak District. We chose it because it is dog welcoming and it was excellent in this regard, especially with the dog washing facility to clean up muddy paws after a long walk. Staff were lovely too. Highly recommended, for dog owners especially, but for anyone really. We enjoyed our stay so much we are planning a visit to their other hotel in Scarborough.

Nice base for walking. Quiet and picturesque.

Nice base for walking. Quiet and picturesque. Padley Gorge is really beautiful but gets very busy on a nice day. The Maynard Hotel is excellent with a lovely garden ( dog friendly ) and good food .

Grindleford is a lovely place.

Grindleford is a lovely place. There are some nice walks hereabouts and the railway station (Grindleford) is across the road - and down the drive - with links to Hathersage, Hope and Edale in one direction and to Sheffield in the other.

What a stunning location!!

What a stunning location!! Padley Gorge was just like a dream. Walked around the surroundings and was just impressed with the surroundings. The amazing green grass, the free walking cow's the trees.. I know it sounds silly, but I live in London.. a very different vibe, haha... honestly, highly recommend.

It is a good location for exploring north Derbyshire but a car is essential to get to interesting locations quickly. The actual village of Grindleford only consists of a few houses along the main road. Our hiking days are in the past so we restricted ourselves to Buxton,, Bakewell, Chatsworth and the villages from Hathesage along to Castleton and also Eyam. Try to choose a long hot, dry summer for this hilly area! .

The hotel is located in a beautiful location in the heart of the peak district, and an ideal location for walking along the derwent river and surrounding areas. We took a beautiful walk into Hathersage, which is about 4 miles from the hotel. The hotel is beautiful decorated and the food and the room (albeit slightly on the small side) are lovely. The food was amazing, both at dinner and also breakfast. Although breakfast does take a bit of time to arrive, but if you aren't in a rush that is fine.

Lovely stay at the Maynard: the hotel is well situated in a beautiful location with plenty of parking. The building is lovely & our room was very comfy. We had some nice drinks in the beer garden & a fabulous meal in the restaurant. All the staff were polite, friendly & professional. I'd highly recommend the Maynard to those looking for an overnight stay with great food & drinks & access to beautiful walks & countryside.

Lovely old building with cosy restaurant and bar. Staff were very accommodating. Relaxed feel with lots of walkers. Grindleford is beautiful. The bath in our room was an extra bonus. Not all rooms have one though. This is a hotel really looking at green travel. Nice choice of British and Indonesian food. Breakfast very well cooked and presented without being over fed.
