We were disappointed that the pier ferry wasn't working but the pier and the train were very interesting - lots of plaques on the pier with interesting information and lots of inscriptions on the planks on the pier. The town was very nice - a surprising number of different shops in such a small area. The town centre and pier within very easy walking distance from the Boathouse hotel. Good meals served there with a good selection at reasonable prices.

Good location as bus stop close by hotel including New Forest hop on hop off bus. So much to see and do by car starting from Hythe. Pretty village to walk around although mainly charity shops or estate agencies. Hotel had plenty of information of places to go if visiting by car. Hythe is a good "stepping off" point for things to see and do.

The Boathouse had a beautiful balcony overlooking the marina with all the beautiful yachts and boats moored. Nice to sit with a glass of wine and look out as the lights come on when darkness falls. A very nice stay indeed.

Hythe's most useful attribute, the ferry into Southampton...

Hythe's most useful attribute, the ferry into Southampton docks, is currently not in operation, but the town boasts a a couple of good bars [and several others] and generally pleasant restaurants, and a high number of cafés, meaning it is well used by locals. Try to catch a weekend event at the Vibrant Forest Brewery in nearby Hardley. The bus service to Southampton is good.

Very nice friendly place.

Very nice friendly place. The hythe ferry to Southampton is worth a trip and is only a 15 minute walk to the city centre. The Seashells lounge and bar restaurant serves excellent food, fish pie with freshly cooked vegetables and chicken with potatoes and vegetables worth a visit. For a day out, try Exbury gardens and steam railway, although the weather wasn’t very good we still had a good time there, the cafe is good and prices reasonable too.

The Boathouse, on the Hythe Marina, is a great place to stop if you are visiting the New Forest and it's many attractions. There is a small High Street and access to the Hythe/Southampton ferry on the doorstep, should you want to visit the 'city lights'.

The property owners were very helpful and easy to contact. The property was well prepared, including nice touches such as flowers. The location is perfect with only a shot walk to the centre of Hythe. We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay where we cought up with family members who live around the country and USA.
