We live locally, Workington, and enjoy infrequent visits to Keswick. Plenty of places to eat, lots of shops although there is a leaning towards the hiking and walking supplies and touristy stuff there are a good number of independent shops that are well worth a visit, and a goodly amount of activities, crazy golf, Kong climbing wall, trip on the lake etc. Keswick is also very handy for the rest of the Lakes, with decent public transport links, X4/X4 between Workington and Penrith and the 555 that runs through to Kendal and Lancaster.

This is a tiny market town (almost a village!) in Cumbria.

This is a tiny market town (almost a village!) in Cumbria. However, it has access to all of the lakes, boat trips, walking everything you need for a trip. There are a million climbing/walking shops in the town centre so if you forget anything it's all there. As for food plenty restaurants and cafes some very pricey others not. There is a Weatherspoons there which was packed morning noon and night for food if you don't want to pay for pricey places. There is a nice selection of bars too most do food and some are really foody places rather than bars. Dogs everywhere so if you are allergic - avoid! There is a wonderful supermarket there - Booths - which has everything you need if you are catering this yourself. Enjoy! If you aren't into climbing/walking then two nights is more than enough for just a relaxing weekend away.

Visited in early October...town was humming in daytime, and reasonably busy at night. Didn't feel like holidaying out of season. Lots of outdoor shops, cafe's, pubs and cafes, all seemed very friendly. Ate in both pubs and local restaurant. Very helpful tourist Information with lots of maps etc

Keswick is a beautiful town with lots of lovely cafes, bars and restaurants and shops. The lake Derwentwater is beautiful and the surrounding countryside is so pretty. We ate at the Golden Lion a couple of times. Great food, very reasonable prices. We shopped in the local shops .

Keswick is a beautiful laid back town with lovely restaurants and coffee shops. Fantastic hiking on its door step and great facilities for a small town. We went to the theatre and had a wonderful evening. What makes Keswick so charming is the people, everyone is so friendly and welcoming. Coming from Ireland where people generally are very friendly it was refreshing to see a similar outlook amongst the locals. It is obviously a dog lovers paradise and it attracts a lovely visitor- everyone was so nice, perhaps the atmosphere in the town contributed to this- certainly no larger louts about so I think the town has got the mix just right- we like to visit new places but we will certainly make an exception and come back to Keswick

It's a small b&b, so it was able to retain a personal touch. The owners were all very friendly. Little things, like leaving a slice of home baked cake in my room for when I returned from my day on the fells, was appreciated. The room itself was refreshed daily. The breakfast was very good, with the cooked breakfast made to order. Dalkeith guest house provided all I needed to support my time in The Lake District, with the added advantages of it being quiet but close to Keswick town centre.

Very clean and well equipped room. Lorna was a lovely gracious host. The location is perfect for a walk into Keswick town centre via the railway path. Parking is easy via the street opposite. The B&B is also dog friendly, with a small wood opposite perfect for them, and Lorna greeted our Bernese mountain dog every morning with a sausage which of course she loved. Would highly recommend a stay at Brookfield B&B.

The staff couldn’t do more for you, they made the experience 100 times better. One of the staff even dropped us into Keswick town centre after finishing his shift, to save us waiting for the 2 hour bus. I’d 1000 percent recommend staying at this hotel, and we for sure will return one day. Oh, and the food is amazing.
