We were using Lauder as base for visiting Edinburgh. Just spent one afternoon exploring the town. Enjoyed sandwich and tea at a Deli and walked around castle grounds . Train into Edinburgh from Stow worked well. Also drove to Dunbar for the day.

I particularly enjoyed the warm welcome, and the atmosphere in the restaurant and bar. The food at dinner and breakfast was top quality. I travel throughout Europe and stay in many hotels, and I have to say that this was the best hotel experience in many years.

Lauder is a great village with everything you need.

Lauder is a great village with everything you need. Spotty Dog for coffee and a Scotch egg, Flat Cat Gallery for gift shopping and cake. There is a butchers, post office, pharmacy and co-op. As well as a beautiful church, castle and surrounding areas with lots of history and natural beauty. An underrated gem

Excellent accommodation within a beautiful building of great historical significance and set in magnificent countryside. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful making our stay relaxing and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend the castle tour. Our guide (Norman) had a wealth of knowledge with regard to both the castle itself and the Maitland family who have occupied it over the centuries.

We stayed here for 2 nights over the weekend. When we first arrived we were extremely happy with the size, cleanliness, and overall look of the place. It was a stunning, spacious lodge. The hot tub was great. The information pack was extremely helpful. We walked through the woods across to Lauder in under 15 minutes, this was a nice walk. We would definitely be back!
