St Andrews is a gorgeous place!

St Andrews is a gorgeous place! With its ancient ruins and medieval streets lined with wonderful traditional buildings and a vibrant and cosmopolitan academic feel and stunning coastal scenery, it maintains a welcoming and charming atmosphere. Most importantly it is SAFE and the people are beyond friendly and always helpful!

A magnificent place to visit, especially if it is your first trip from the US to Europe. The people we encountered in St. Andrews were very friendly, the restaurants were excellent, and the shopping didn't disappoint. We stayed 7 days, which was probably 1-2 days longer than was needed, but the weather turned due to the hurricane remnants, which cut down on our travel plans. But we were not disappointed in the least.

As an avid golfer there is no better place in the world to visit! The ambiance of the town is amazing - a mix of golfers, holiday makers and students from all over the world. The bars and restaurants are bustling but at the same time the town of St Andrews has a peaceful, charming and academic feel about it. Recommend the Dunvegan bar for a trip down golf’s memory lane, The Criterion - it’s a fantastic family run pub, The Jigger Inn which overlooks the 17th Road Hole of the Old Course and The Rule bar for a wee tipple or two. These were the ones we visited, there are many other to chose from - you are spoiled for choice! Bibi’s café is also a must for breakfast / brunch. A walk along the West Sands beach is a must and if you happen to be there on a Sunday, you can walk the Old Course - but don’t walk on the greens! We just love St Andrews!

St Andrews is a lovely place to visit.

St Andrews is a lovely place to visit. The people we met were so friendly and made us feel welcome. Plenty of places to visit in the area. The only downside was the botanic gardens as they could do with some tlc.

St Andrews is a lovely, quirky, historical place.

St Andrews is a lovely, quirky, historical place. The Grange Inn restaurant is definitely worth a visit, as is the Jigger Inn bar near the golf course. There are lots of cafes and shops, it's a great place to walk around and of course there is the famous golf course. We didn't get to visit the beach sadly, hopefully next time. The Rufflets hotel is also great for food and a gorgeous hotel - we attended a wedding dance here.

Very nice little city with two nice beaches (I preferred the West Sand Beach tho). There is a few very interesting museums that are mostly free. And St Andrews University with its three combined colleges and old buildings located all over the little city is very pretty and interesting. Even tho I m not particularly a full on fan of golf I did enjoy the golf/links and history of the golf side of the city. The Jannettas Gelato and Northpoint Cafe are really nice and affordable. The the topping and co booksellers (shop) is big and really really nice. It’s a city that has lots of charms and could please diverse and different interests. It particularly made me want to read books on the grass or in St Mary’s Quadrangle or in a bench, on Sunday it is allowed for people to walk on the old course which is a nice place to read too but maybe it’s preferable after 4 pm when people aren’t too much walking around and it’s less crowded then.

For a one night stay the hotel meets the needs and is charming enough. Free parking is good, and it’s not too far from other places so it’s good to have a reduced rate compared to St. Andrew’s.
