I picked Saltburn-By-The-Sea as it had a railway station, I really wanted to visit Staithes just down the coast but transport links there were limited. Saltburn is a charming Victorian style seaside resort with a pier, miniture railway, and some lovely coastal and woodland walks. The beach is classic sandy beach and great for walking along. Bus links to picturesque places like Staithes and Whitby are good and frequent. Whitby is a good place to visit for the Abbey Ruins, The North Yorkshire Moors Railway, and of course fish & chips!!! I was surprised at how much I liked the town!!! There were plenty of places to eat and drink and east and quick transport links to larger cities like Middlesborough and Darlington. The people of Northeast Yorkshire are friendly and welcoming, and if you like walking there are miles of coastal and inland trails to explore

Saltburn is an ideal location for a quite break, super beaches (Dog friendly in many places). Lots of coffee shops for a reward after a walk. lovely woodland and gardens. Easy access to the Cleveland Way footpaths and good roads for visiting other local beauty spots. The bus to Whitby is doable and avoids parking nightmares.

Unfortunately it was very cold and windy for most of the weekend, which limited what we could do. Disappointing opportunities for Real Ale within walking distance. Imagine it's much nicer in better weather. Seaview Restaurant was excellent.

Great beach with lots of activity to watch.

Great beach with lots of activity to watch. Surfers, swimmers, horse riders, pier. We were blessed with brilliant weather which helped. Downside is getting up and down to the beach, I counted 181 steps. There is the funicular tram on the cliff which helps. Plenty of places to eat and very clean. Would revisit.

Saltburn by the Sea has a charm all of it's very own waiting to be discovered. We hope to return asap. Without giving too much away that says it all really. As a couple, we were there over a weekend and were surprised by the number of buzzing bars and selection of eateries open in the evenings. Our favourites were No 23 they managed to squeeze us in and we had the best ever wood fired pizza that had fresh and very generous toppings. I had the Mediterranean recommended by a very helpful, friendly member of staff. We also loved the little wine bar KOZE (which I think is a café during the day.). We enjoyed a delicious glass of red here.

Located within the old village with its own parking space, easy access to the Cleveland Way and local walks as well as the village amenities, cafes, pubs etc. The lovely cottage style property and the owners had thought of everything to make the stay easy, well appointed , everything you needed for the stay and lots of information in the guide to the property about local services etc. The bedrooms were of hotel quality, lovely thick carpet and quality bedding .
