The area was mostly fine.

The area was mostly fine. In some areas the town was looking tired. Absence of any visible street cleaning. We must have passed an area where someone had let their dog foul the pavement at least eight times as we walked up and down to our guest house and back down towards the lake I know it’s individual dog owners where the responsibility lies but even so it’s a big tourist area So one would expect a bit more pride in the area Unfortunately we won’t be rushing back to visit

Windermere is a vibrant town.

Windermere is a vibrant town. It has a great choice of restaurants, cafes and bars offering a great range of food genres. It has a lot of independent shops with wonderful window displays and friendly, helpful teams. It has a spectacular lake which is lovely to walk beside. It is also a gateway to other towns in the wider area of the Lake District.

Scenery was breathtaking.

Scenery was breathtaking. Fabulous restaurants, coffee shops and boutique shops. We had fantastic food at the Thai restaurant King of Siam. Had a trip around the lake and drove to Cockermouth, Keswick and Scafell Pike.

Windermere town centre is small but has plenty of cafes and restaurants to meet all food lovers types. There are a good selection of shops for gifts etc. and all are within a few hundred yards and not too far from the railway station or buses to travel to other parts of the lakes. It is also a 10 to 15 minute walk to Bowness (downhill) which is also the place to hop on to the lake boats or alternative dining or shopping and the Beatrix Potter experience. My pictures are of the lake side in Bowness

We had our honeymoon in Windermere many years ago, so revisiting places. Windermere is a beautiful location with plenty to do for all the family. Easy to get around with buses to the Lakes if no car. Went on the Ravenglass steam train, which was amazing highly recommend.

The area is stunningly beautiful and the people are so friendly and chatty. It was a real pleasure to be there. I'd recommend a day tour just so you see everything. Driving around the hills was hair-raising, another reason to take a tour. The town Bowness was a bit tacky and touristy.

Beautiful Hotel in Beautiful Location, the spa with outdoor infinity pool and hot tub overlooking the lake and the view of windermere was amazing even in the rain! Everything was just perfect, breakfast and all food was to a high standard, staff were lovely, friendly and very helpful, room was immaculate and extremely comfortable with that view again and the jacuzzi bath was just an extra luxury to enjoy. Literally couldn't fault a thing and would highly recommend as a perfect place to just relax and unwind without disappointment!

Easy check-in arranged time. Our room for 3 guests was spacious and warm with towels, toiletries, drinks/biscuits and a welcome chocolate. Shower was hot and spare hairdryer to use. Location central for Bowness on Windermere and Windermere within 5 minutes and plenty of restaurants / shops. Price of room for 2 nights was good and parking was not a problem. Staff helpful and breakfast choices were very good/sufficient.
