I always time my journey to the best earliest to try & avoid build up of traffic if driving in .once you have confirmed the Hotel you are staying in search ahead the day where you might eat .. get the most out of visit to Windsor Castle by having the head phones for in depth information on your trip around including St George’s Chaple the little shops there always delight with a gift or 2 to take home .. check out Runnymede Magna Carta just 20 minutes drive down the way & make a few hours to take in the HISTORY This should be as much fUN as The Castle -Explore old Windsor just across the river .. Normally stay at Heathrow when we have an early morning flight but decided to give Windsor a try. Turned out perfectly as traffic is light early morning and made it there in less than 30 minutes. City is fun, historic and very attractive.Guest review byWilliamUnited States - 10

Extraordinary Castle with world-class artworks and Dolls' House. St George's Chapel, in the Castle grounds, a late Gothic masterpiece with fan-vaulting on the ceiling, contains the burial places of various monarchs, including the modest tomb of the late Queen Elizabeth II in a side chapel, and also Charles I and Henry VIII. Changing of the Guard (view online for the times). Light meals and ice-creams available inside Castle grounds. Check the Royal Collections Trust for opening times and tickets, advisable to book. 17th C Guildhall, where the King and Queen were married, as it is the local register office. Town has too many souvenir shops. M&S cafe upstairs (Peascod Street) offers good-value breakfasts and lunches. Town hilly, wear comfortable shoes. We hired a mobility scooter from Shopmobility, wow, fantastic help and service and parking included. Loved Windsor Castle, didn't realise there was so much to see and do. Staff were so helpful in guiding us around. There is access for disabled people and we were really looked after and guided well. Nice coffee shops and ice cream shops. River walks and pub lunches lovely. Be careful of pickpockets! One approached my husband leaning on his scooter and 'resting' whilst checking out our baggage which we had secured very well. Visited for an evening guided tour of Windsor Castle, which was a wonderful 2 hour experience in a group of 30. Main day, we spent mainly in Windsor doing the Queens Walk which is a helpful way of seeing historic Windsor and the Long Walk. August obviously very busy time, so booking , if possible, for restaurants is recommended.
