The Thames is stunning and worth a stroll along. Sit and watch the birds, fish, boats, dragonflies, and people enjoying themselves. The Rose Revived Public House and Restaurant is not for fine dining but you can have a wonderful meal and a lovely drink in nice surroundings. The willows and gardens are lovely. We enjoyed the gardens at Coggs. We ate outside at the Rowing Machine pub which was in the shade, very comfortable and our grandchildren played very happily in the playground and grounds. We tried to charge our Electric mobile home on a Sunday evening which was in the Lidl car park but there was nowhere nearby to sit whilst it was charging and nowhere to have a coffee and wait. Costa coffee in the Travel Lodge across the roundabout was closed and we tried to get a coffee and use the toilet at The Oxford Whitney Hotel the other side of the roundabout but were ordered off the premises by the security guard. I eventually used the toilet in the mini Waitrose supermarket and petrol station opposite Lidl.Guest review byWood - 8.0

The walls were a bit thin within the room I occupied (I went to bed early after a long drive), so maybe worth asking for a quiet room for those who want complete silence on their stay. Apart from this very minor point, the stay was excellent. Really impressed with the relaxed atmosphere, the staff and the overall cleanliness and layout of the room. Witney is a great little town, although it does get very busy around rush hour and at the weekend. There are plenty of good places to eat (I would recommend the Blue Boar) and a nice variety of shops as well as a cinema. Use it as a base to explore Oxfordshire and the Cotswolds. It was near Oxford and within easy driving distance to the many picturesque villages nearby. Our apartment was at the mill/commercial end of Witney, but we were able to walk the historical centre, supermarket, restaurants and pubs. We valued having en site parking.
