Maria has been a great host. We arrived in the morning but she let us in directly so we could take a bit of rest after a night flight. She’s also very helpful with our requests and gave us a few recommendations on where to visit. The garden is great for kids to play around and the access to the beach is just perfect. Supermarket just opposite the road and a few nice restaurants within walking distance. will look forward to coming back

I loved my holiday in Sofia Kalives! ❤️ I was travelling alone. They made me feel at home and safe all the time! All my questions were answered very friendly. Room service is great, they clean rooms every day. Even my dishes! My room stayed cool, altho I didn't have air conditioner on! View is beautiful! Sea on the other side and mountains the other. It is nice to sit at the terrace and enjoy the view and the local delicacies. Thank You Sofia for giving me the rest that I needed! Hope to come back soon! ❤️

We stayed for 8 nights and this property was ideal. Fantastic location. Kitchen had everything and more than needed, even had coffee machine and toastie maker. I would definitely recommend and would stay here again.

Great location and beautifully restored old house - facilities are great with new kitchen and shower room - even has a toilet upstairs too which is handy for the 3 bedrooms. Really special place - cute and cozy. Amazingly, it was so quiet and peaceful because it is tucked away from the roads. Yet, it is close to everything too. Very convenient

The apartment is located right next to the beach and the perfect local bars and restaurants. Throughout our stay our hosts were fully available and helpful whenever we needed assistance. We had a terrible experience with a rental car company, but Ioanna and Pantelis came to the rescue. They had our tire fixed and even helped us put it back on! Their hospitality is unmatched and it is combined with the relaxing atmosphere of a Cretan seaside residence. It is well worth the visit!

We were very happy at this location. Very kind staff, perfect and varied food, daily cleaning, shows organized every evening, that's all you need for your vacation. We rented a car from the hotel to visit the island and we recommend it. They also provided us with transportation to and from the airport. We hope to return next year accompanied by friends.     Our recent stay was made extra special thanks to the incredible care and presence of the hotel management team – particularly Modesta and Jelena. From the moment we arrived, their approach stood out as genuinely guest-focused and refreshingly hands-on. Modesta kindly invited us to a management-hosted drinks and snacks event, where she spent over 30 minutes listening attentively to our suggestions for future improvements. We mentioned ideas such as offering hairdresser services for guests staying longer than a week, arranging sessions with a professional photographer to capture the stunning scenery, and introducing adult dance classes featuring local Greek styles. We also suggested expanding the beverage options to include a variety of barista-made coffees for non-alcohol drinkers—currently, if you don't drink alcohol, you’re mostly left with water or sugary sodas, which many now avoid. That level of openness and attention is rare and deeply appreciated. Jelena and Modesta also organised a beautiful à la carte dinner for us, another example of how involved and committed the management team is. This is the only hotel we’ve experienced where the management isn’t distant from guests—they are consistently visible, engaging, and genuinely interested in how everything is going. You truly feel heard and valued here. It’s a completely different and much more personal style of hospitality management. A heartfelt thank you to Spiros, Nicolas, Modesta, Michelle and the rest of the team —you’re doing a fantastic job.

    Our room at Kalyves Bay was comfortable and well equipped. Local shops, bars and restaurants are only a very short walk away (0-5 minutes). Stelios and his family were very friendly and welcoming. We would definitely stay here again.

    Very nice and clean family run hotel.

    Very nice and clean family run hotel. Excellent little café in front (hotel guests get a 15% discount). We had our dog with us, and we greatly appreciated a pet-friendly apartment that was very well maintained. The atmosphere is simple, comfortable, and pleasant. Excellent for meeting our expectations.

    We really enjoyed the kids' club activities.

    We really enjoyed the kids' club activities. The evening entertainment was also very good. Additionally, I felt that the food choices, especially for lunch and dinner, were excellent and catered to different tastes. I was disappointed to find that the air conditioning did not work in several rooms, and the staff were fully aware of this issue. We had to change our room but ultimately had to settle for a normal fan. This hotel is rated as a 5-star hotel, but I feel it does not meet that standard. Additionally, the restaurant area was problematic. The fridge with ice cream was very dirty, as were the pots with granola. Despite having issues with the air conditioning and cleanliness in the restaurant area, we enjoyed our stay at Kiani Beach Resort. The pools are excellent, and the proximity to the beach is amazing. However, I believe this hotel should be awarded only a 3 to 4-star rating.

    We stayed here for 10 days with one other family .

    We stayed here for 10 days with one other family . It was amazing !! We are had our own rooms with own bathrooms . We had clean and safe space . The host was great and got back to us with any questions we had . All appliances worked great . Restaurants near by were great to walk to .

    Perfect Cretan working village by the sea.Great beaches.Plenty good tevernas,kanefeons and bars with very reasonable prices.Supermarket,mini markets and shops Local butchers,bakers,fruit and veg shops with fresh local produce.Good base fortrips to other places including archeological and historical sites.Car hire and ATMs in abundance.It's about 30 - 40 minutes depending on your mode of transport from Chania airport and about 25 minutes from Souda ferry terminal.Highly recommended.

    We had an amazing time at Ocean Bay apartment in Panorama Seaview Village. The apartment is modern, well-equipped (oven, dishwasher, washing machine, etc.), and very comfortable. Thoughtful extras like bin bags, washing machine & dishwasher tablets, and welcome treats were much appreciated. It’s peaceful, just outside the main hub of Kalyves, with stunning ocean views and a beautiful infinity pool. A perfect place to relax – we’d love to return!

    The hotel is charming and has its own beach, which makes the stay especially enjoyable. The food is delicious and varied, with something for everyone, and there was always at least one seafood option available. The staff are exceptionally friendly and welcoming — from the reception to the cleaning team, everyone made us feel comfortable and well taken care of

    Beautiful, tidy hotel with wonderful view to the sea! The service was very friendly. The car could be parked in front of the hotel. The beach was quite near and also some places to have coffee or lunch. The center was within walking distance. We would liked to stay for another night but there was no room.

    I would recommend staying here, reasonably priced appartments in a perfect location, right on the a beautiful beach and close to supermarket , restaurants and shops in the town of Kalyves . Close to bus stop to Chania and taxis .The owner was very helpful , the cleaner came in daily.

    Location is right on a very good and long beach, with sand and clean water. Some places have rocks, some weed, but beach is possibly 1 mile( 2 km) long. Hotel itself is well maintained, a lot of beautiful roses and other flowers, place for kids to.play, equipped kitchen.
