We absolutely loved La Moara. It’s in the middle of the remote Valia Calda mountains, cozy and warm - fires in the bedrooms, fur rugs on the chairs, no sound but birdsong and the river running below. Some rooms are in treehouses and some are on wooden walkways. We had the warmest welcome I can remember from the owners and Petra. They were incredibly friendly and kind, and made us a delicious dinner full of local specialities and a lavish home cooked breakfast. We had a fantastic time exploring the valley - we found bear prints on the bank downstream! Valia Calda is in the Pindus national park so is full of incredible wild animals and plants. It was glorious to be so taken care of and feel so close to nature. This would be a wonderful place to watch the seasons change. We didn’t have time to check out the sauna and Turkish bath but I imagine it would be especially lovely in winter.

Everything! The staff was very friendly and polite and service around the hotel was absolutely great too. Our room was very nice with the view to Metsovo. The beds were excellent too. Once we ordered burgers from the room service and they were so delicious (with local smoked cheese). The breakfast was one of the best we have ever seen before, so great variety of products. Highly recommended!

It was our second time in this hotel, also as a transit to the Ionian Islands. Amazing people, speaking old Romanian, Ioan and Elena. They are so kind, so hard working. They are trying hard to keep the business going. Last time we had a larger room and bathroom and was nicer. This time was a smaller room, but it was ok for one night stay. Incredible view from the window! Breakfast was amazing, all home cooked and local products (2 years ago was the same, only probably a little different/richer, probably they are affected by the price increase on everything). It is a family business of very friendly and helpful brothers. There is elevator access to the upstairs. Very good value for money. Rooms are ok, beds are clean, towels are changed daily, maybe the carpet should be replaced. In the bathroom there is shower gel in a dispenser. The hotel is well heated. Breakfast is good, it includes local products, olives, spinach pie, cheese pie, soup, sausages, jam, cheese, maybe more vegetables would be needed. The rooms have balconies with table and chairs, the view is beautiful even on rainy or foggy days. The warm welcome of the hosts made us feel excellent.
