Very beautiful traditional Greek mountain village with small...
Very beautiful traditional Greek mountain village with small shops (local products) and few restaurants. Difficult to find parking in the center of the village, one public parking but it's very small. Easy to make road trips around Pelion area - go around if you have a car, this is one of the most beautiful regions in Greece (also in summer, not only winter). Some part of the roads (in Pelion area, not in Portaria) were destroyed in winter 2024 during storms. Unfortunately, they were still destroyed in July 2024. You can go around by car, roads are not closed, but needs a bit attention in many places and wouldn't recommend to drive at night (dark). Time from Portaria to beach (Agios Ioannis, Papa Nero) took from us abt 40 min so take your time. To Village "Kala Nera" (nice beach, long with plenty of place in July) a bit less.Guest review byPIALIISAGreece - 10.0
It is a lovely village.
It is a lovely village. There are a number of hiking paths nearby. The nature is great and one can enjoy wonderful views. There are nice tavernas with great local food and atmosphere. I liked: The traditional house architecture that has been somehow preserved and gives a unique character to the entire village. The streams and creeks inside and around the village. The main square with the beautiful large platanus-sycamore trees. The views of the Pagasitikos bay from the village. The view of the thickly wooded forests of chestnuts and walnuts. I really do not understand why people are going there.
I really do not understand why people are going there. It is a very small village on the top of a mountain near Volos.Ok, the view is very nice especially during night, but You need to climb the mounting by car and you need 30-40 minutes for 9 km.When you arrive there, you will find many hotels, 8-10 restaurants, 3-4 souvenir shop, one petrol station, one pharmacy and nothing else.Guest review byCatalin FRomania - 10.0

All villages from Pelion are extremely interesting and with a local air. The view is just unbelievable. A great rustic experience which a real urban, busy traveler must have. The food, the nature, the panorama, every and each place are just mind blowing. Pelion is not the tourist oriented place, but this makes it even more desirable. The beds are hugely comfortable and the water pressure is excellent in the well-appointed bathroom. Breakfast was a great buffet selection, which you could eat inside or out in the beautiful garden overlooking Portaria village. Our only regret was that their restaurant was closed when we were there - so we shall simply have to return on a Friday , Saturday or Sunday, when we know it’s open!Guest review byEstherUnited Kingdom
