The views are amazing and the location is so peaceful. The room and balcony are very clean and spacious. It takes a short drive to the town of Munduk but we only left to go hiking and see the waterfalls. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They were helping us out with all our requests, We felt very welcome in this place. The food is great and there is enough variety of Asian and Western dishes. We can definitely recommend this place and we hope we can go back one day as well.

Secluded quiet and in the midst of nature. Sounds of the river flowing below as you fall asleep. Room was spacious, modern and super clean. With room fairies visiting to clean and make beds whilst out for the day. But the real assets are hosts Gede and Komong who are so welcoming and generous. Nothing is a bother and they can accommodate your needs. Gede is an excellent guide and driver and can cater to all requests. Komong is an excellent cook and even did a one on one cooking session with me. As a solo traveller this was an experience was a perfect choice for me🙏

We spent three nights over there with my new wife. The room is really nice with an amazing open view on the rice field. The team was very helpful to organize trip nearby, with a full set of possible activities to do, including the visit of waterfalls, hikes and canoeing on the nearby lake etc. On top of the amazing place, the piscine is really nice and relaxing.

One of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stayed in. We had a medical emergency and Andre was amazing. He was kind and supportive every step of the way. He even came to hospital and translated medical information from the doctor to me. I am so thankful that Andre was there to help me after the accident. After the injury, the hotel staff brought all my food and drinks to the room and I rested in the beautiful room.

A haven of peace, full of charm, to discover absolutely in the north of Bali, perched in the mountain, 20 minutes above Lovina. If you are looking for a little freshness in a suspended, intimate place, then this place is for you. The owners, a mixed Indo/English couple, have put their heart into it and have managed to unite the whole village, which supports them in this adventure. Moreover, all the staff are local. Most of them are former cruise employees, who returned to the village during the pandemic and never left. They are therefore all already trained in tourism and many of them speak perfect English. Not far from the establishment, they have, on dozens of ares, their own organic vegetable garden.  You can go there and harvest your own vegetables, and during a cooking class cook them, to finally taste the dishes that you have prepared. Each room is a typical Gladak house, in wood, built with a "modern" style, well decorated. The bedding and pillows are a pure invitation to soft and restful nights. If you like to wake up early, then you will have the chance to see beautiful sunrises, and if you are lucky, like we  were, then you will be facing a beautiful show: complete rainbow going from the mountain until the top of one of the Java volcano, over passing the palm trees. The sunsets are also amazing in this area. The food, cooked by a local chef, is quite good. Thanks to all staff for their absolutely professional and their great welcome.

Our stay at Manduk modern plantation was amazing. The most welcoming and friendliest staff I’ve ever had. Making you feel right at home! The property is so beautiful and the views from the restaurants and the room was incredible :) Great sized rooms and very private. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a break from the coast :)

Temperature (around 18-19 degrees celcius in the evening) and beautiful countryside and vegetation - many waterfall walks available (although quite tourist heavy). Beautiful area and totally different to the various beach spots of Bali.

The area around Munduk is very hilly so it is good to be prepared for this if doing a lot of walking. If you don’t have your own wheels, you are mostly reliant on local transport/drivers,to get to a number of attractions in the area. We enjoyed a visit to the Lakes and the Botanical Gardens which were very peaceful. Walking the 5 local waterfalls from Golden Valley was a highlight, which took us most of the day. Next time I would go on the canoes on Tamblingan Lake. It looked like fun.

For my money, Munduk and other areas of North Bali, are the places to visit if you are looking for an authentic Bali experience, lacking in over-crowdedness and offering simply what the South can no longer offer: unhurried, unobstructed and authentic natural beauty and kindness, the kind that was maybe present 40 years ago in the South, when I last visited. If you are into nature that is not over infrastructured, this might be your place too. Because it is remote, it will lack Grab and other conveniences but that is the price we pay for being early to a place. Let's hope it stays this way forever. I know the locals hope so too.

Driving around the Munduk area gave me some of the most...

Driving around the Munduk area gave me some of the most stunning views of all the places I have visited in Bali. I love the countryside of Sideman, the Jungles of Ubud, and the hills and mountains of Candidasa, but the hill and mountain experience of Munduk just blew me away. Next time I will return for more than one night, and do some trekking and Waterfalls.

Munduk and Bedugul area is perfect for those that like...

Munduk and Bedugul area is perfect for those that like hiking off the typical balinese tourist locations. There are plenty hiking routes to walk in rice fields, around the lakes, at waterfalls, etc. The restaurants in this area are more local, but also offer some light international kitchen. The nights are more refreshing than in the south and the nature can be fascinating with the clouds, the rain and the sunshine chasing each other. For those that want to explore some curves roads with bicycles or scooters or motorbikes, it is a perfect choice.

In the best hostel in which I have stayed in Bali, more than a hostel seemed a Hotel. Beautiful Balinese construction, clean and the food was delicious. This breathtaking hotel is nestled up in the hills of Munduk with the most incredible views. We were welcomed by the friendliest people and instantly felt connected to this place. There are so many complimentary experiences to take part in onsite and the rooms are a dream. Highly recommend spending at least two or three nights, if not more, to really enjoy it.
