FAQs about hotels in Ubud

Bali's Peaceful Retreat

If you are seeking a hideaway from Bali’s chaotic Kuta, Ubud provides a welcome respite with its secluded paths, calming temples and specialised spa resorts. Surrounded by rice paddies, coconut trees and lush forests of green, Ubud is seen as the cultural centre of Bali.

The road leading up to Ubud features little villages specialising in handicrafts like Celuk (silver jewellery), Batuan (paintings) and Mas (wood carvings). Ubud, itself, produces all sorts of handicrafts in its peaceful foothills. There are also numerous art galleries, workshops and courses on offer for the budding artist.

The Monkey Forest is a popular tourist drawcard with its ravenous monkey population lunging at anything resembling food. The 9th-century Goa Gajah, or Elephant Cave, showcases the island’s historic past and there is the regular Ubud Market for modern-day souvenir hunters.

Ubud is a place for relaxation and many yoga and meditation centres have developed over the years on Indonesia’s most popular island. Booking.com offers a range of guest houses, villas, bungalows and world-class resorts with spa facilities or pool.

With the congestion near the palace, the traffic flow is hellish. At thew wrong time of day, you barely move. Even walking is an issue as it was Very busy during our stay. I enjoyed our time there, but would spend less than the 5 days we had there. In saying that, we have been here before

30 years since I stayed in Ubud and it was unrecognisable - busy, crowded, endless traffic jams and dangerously pitted footpaths. Even so it was lively and interesting and the accomodation I chose even though close to the Centre managed to be tranquil and quiet.

This place is Magic. Surrounded by jungle and rice fields. The locals are beautiful people, their culture and beliefs are so strong it’s so beautiful. Ubud is a beautiful place to visit. Respect their culture, and tip them. It’s not a lot to us, but it is to them. Tip them please they deserve it for letting us into their lands.

Ubud has always been one of my favorite place in Bali.

Ubud has always been one of my favorite place in Bali. The home to one of the best cultural festivals, and host to plenty of local galleries highlighting local artists. Food is also great if you're willing to go out of your way to find local food. Otherwise, it's western food all the way. Plenty of vegetarian options, though.

Ubud is the spiritual center of Bali and well worth the visit. The city center is a bit congested but fun to hang out in for sites, cafes, bars, shops and restaurant. Was great staying about 10-15min scooter ride north of the city center. Much quieter and plenty of great cafes & restaurants. The Pyramid of Chi, various waterfalls, and rice terraces were exciting and rewarding visits as well. Be sure to schedule some Yoga and meditation at your hotel or with one of the local spiritual or spa centers.

Villa is just beautiful and very private located in a lovely quiet local village, lots to eat locally and some nice restaurants / hotels you can walk to. Explore the back streets. Short drive to Ubud and a nearby waterfall. Wayan and Wulan are delightful and organised in villa massages and a wonderful traditional smoked duck dinner for us. Wayan recommended a local cooking class, the best one Hubby has been to in Bali. Held in a traditional compound with a trip to the local markets as well. We will be back again and definitely for longer!

Relatively new hotel situated in a lush green setting. We had a very spacious villa with private pool and view over the gardens. We also had butler service and they helped with literally everything, they were perfect. Breakfast was a la carte and of very high quality (egg options and yogurt with fruits were exceptional). The spa was like a dream, we had the signature massage and even if it was a bit on the expensive side (for Ubud) it was like a dream. This hotel is highly recommended.

One of the most beautiful hotels we've ever stayed in. Breathtaking views from the pool and restaurants. All the rooms are spacious and comfortable but the lower villas and rooms have better views over the valley. Staff were personable and attentive. Honestly the best hotel in Ubud in our opinion and highly recommend if you would like to treat yourself in the beauty and tranquility of the Ubud jungle.

I loved it here!! The landscape with the rice fields around Galang Hari Villa is amazing. You wake up and fall asleep with sounds of nature. I have been to several 5 star hotels in Indonesia but this beats them all with its location, the outside bathroom, the view and the service. There is nothing missing.

It was a true pleasure to stay at Natya resort Ubud. The private villa was like paradise! Also, the food and service were top class. Probably one of the best hotels I have visited. Highly recommended.
