The Carrick Gate is just an all round great place. Located on the river right in town. So clean, newly refurbished, comfortable and excellent Continental breakfast with loads of choices. We were the only ones there being winter so it was lovely and quiet. We booked late and had a bit of delay making phone contact for the key, but that was fixed up quickly for us. Thank you Jessica for your attention, advice and cheer. Eva.

Comfortable house close to the cliffs of Slieve League. An excellent starting point for hiking in beautiful nature. The room was well equipped and clean, the hosts friendly and helpful with useful information regarding the late afternoon hike to the cliffs. The breakfast was delicious. Thank you for everything.

We had a fantastic stay at The Rusty Mackerel. We did a hike up the Slieve League Cliffs and then came back and had a few drinks in the sun outside. We then had a fantastic meal in the restaurant and enjoyed drinks in the bar afterwards. Service and staff were great. Then a nice sleep and lovely breakfast the following morning!

The apartment was clearly put together very thoughtfully and with a lot of care: three generously sized bedrooms with ensuites, a comfortable kitchen/dining/living space, and everything bright and spacious with very soft carpets. The house and its setting are lovely, with a few sheep wandering through the front lawn and views over the heather from all directions. Over the few days we stayed we must have seen a rainbow out of every window. The house seems to stay warm and dry in the wind and rain, and there's enough entrance hall downstairs to get rid of wet clothes, muddy boots and sandy bits before you go upstairs. The location is perfect for striking out on day-trips in all directions with only a short drive to the coast. We certainly hope to return and stay longer so we can explore the area more fully.

Glencolumbkille and Donegall was was marvellous. BUT the B&B was really cold , damp and the bathroom not clean. The heating was not turned on in spite of 12 degrees. The landlord was South African and had none of the skills and welcoming attitudes of the Irish.

Glen is a quiet place but has many interesting places, the beaches are really lovely, golden sand, clear water and quiet, there are also great walks all around. The folk village is well worth a visit (the café there serves lovely food) the pubs are friendly and the café on the main street serves nice food. Views are spectacular, there is a very good local woollen mill selling jumpers / jackets. The pilgrim route of St. Columba well worth investigating.

There are a range of activities available here, walking, hiking, watersports and climbing which is what we were doing. There are several loop and direct walks in the vicinity along with a number of unusual places to visit including a neolithic site and a monument to a shipwreck (near An Port). There are a number of climbing opportunities in the area including bouldering, trad climbing and sea stack climbing. Choose a good guide and professional advice if you don't have experience as some locations can be dangerous if not approached with care.

Glencolmcille is my "happy place" in Ireland.

Glencolmcille is my "happy place" in Ireland. Rugged mountains, turbulent waves, smell of turf, quiet and private... whats not to like. I ate in the Glen Head and had a seriously gut busting, delicious home made burger, fantastic, friendly young staff who didn't bat an eyelid to me asking to eat outside. Personally I. just love the views, I never tire of them, I sat eating my burger with a sneaky glass of wine and thought to myself how bloody lucky I was to be able to sit in the evening sun and watch the sunset. it's not difficult to get around Glen because once the road runs out.. that's it you are driving off the edge of Ireland. If you are on your own, just enjoy it.. go to Slieve League Cliffs in Teeling, hill walking, just chill and relax and take. lots of photos .

Leon and Gillian were just lovely! Very kind and nice people, we enjoyed chatting with them very much. They upgraded us to a bigger room for free. The continental breakfast was also great. The accommodation has a beautiful view, it is very peaceful and a great location for exploring the area. I wish we could have stayed there longer. The accommodation has a fully equipped kitchen that guests can use to prepare meals. Would recommend!
