This is a happening place, with a large variety of restaurants, sightseeing and activities. Best to stay at a nice seafront hotel. Do not skimp on good accommodations. We were there for business, so our choice of hotel was not optimal. Next time, I'll stay at a tourist luxury hotel, even if I am not there as a tourist. Public transport will take you to your chosen point in Gallilea and Around Lake Kinneret very conveniently and inexpensively. Tiberias is not just a great place to experience the Sea of Galilee but also offers a lot to see in terms of Biblical history. A boat trip on the sea is a must. The city of Tiberias itself was fairly typical of Israeli towns, busy, crowded, traffic and impatient drivers. However, the view of the Sea of Galilee is amazing from anywhere around the sea's 70 miles, or so perimeter road. We stayed at the Gomeh Isrotel Resort on the northern section of the sea, away from Tiberias. It was an awesome and relaxing stay. Highly recommended. The hotel is absolutely wonderful because there is a Jewish woman at the reception who can speak 7 different languages and she talks about different things wonderfully and wisely. Likewise, the kitchen staff is wonderful under the leadership of the kitchen manager, and the kitchen manager will dance with you when he dances Shalom Shalom.
