United StatesExcellent place to stay if you are in the area near Holmavik. The hosts were lovely and available for any questions or issues you may have. Spacious, clean , comfortable, modern. Quiet, peaceful, with scenic views. The hot tub is great, Why pay to go to a geothermal tub, when you have one right here. Highly recommend.

You ask if I would stay there again. The answer is yes, I would. In fact I would be happy to live in such a place as Drangnes. It is also an excellent place to continue a visit into the Western fjords.

CanadaWell run hotel. Staff is super nice and very helpful. The lap pool is pretty nice too. We had breakfast 2 days and it was plentiful and delicious! They brought new fresh food out when it hadn't even run out.
Dinner was outstanding! Best iceland food yet!
Everything was very clean abd shared bathrooms wasn't an issue at all.

very small quiet fishing village in north Iceland. There is a store, and a gas station. There are hot spa pools by the sea. In the summer there is a ferry to a small island less than a km off the coast, where there are puffins.

This small, picturesque settlement is the perfect place to spend a day relaxing in the famous seaside hot tubs. It's really one-of-a-kind and is not too heavily trafficked by tourists. You're likely to make friends with like-minded wanderers and adventurers as you soak away your cares. A decent restaurant and the Sorcery and Witchcraft Museum are in nearby Hólmavík.

A natural paradise that has a lot to offer, there is a good accommodation option on site that offers breakfast and dinner. It is popular to go to the hot tubs that lie by the sea that the municipality offers for free, always nice not to have to pay for everything.

North of Drangsnes the coastal road is stunning... breathtaking landscapes among the most incredible in Iceland. Don't be discouraged by the dirt road and drive all the way to Diupavik... it's worth it and in the old abandoned factory there is a fascinating exhibition of installations and videos.

A great place to stay on the way to the fjords or to stay...
A great place to stay on the way to the fjords or to stay overnight and take an alternative route back to Reykjavic (approximately 250km). The road there is partly unpaved and is rarely used, especially in the early and late season. There are hot springs in the village, and the Witches' Museum is on the route. Stunning views over the fjords (provided it's not snowing).

The location of the cottage is central between Hólmavík and Drangnes. There are restaurants there that are definitely recommended. This is also a great place to explore Strandirnar, which is an exceptionally beautiful drive. I highly recommend staying at Hvammur.

Our double room with private bathroom was an excellent choice. It had almost everything we needed - it's spacious, very cosy, there's a kind of anteroom where you can hang the jackets, shoes or leave some food which needs lower temperature. Hosts are friendly, the location is quiet but sometimes rainy and very windy.
Usually it was possible to park the car just in front of our room.
Famous hot tubes in Drangsnes are just a short ride away - I really recommend an evening visit.

Neat hotel in the town of Drangsnes, located at the entrance to a large Fjord.
The room was clean and a decent size for the three of us. Multiple beds provided a good amount of space and the bathroom was a decent size.
This location has a restaurant on site and offers a free breakfast.
The food was good and the location was decent. Onsite staff were very responsive and helped make the stay even better.
Overall, happy with our stay.

Malarhorn is perfectly located for exploring Strandir, only a 5-10 minute walk from the iconic Drangsnes hotpots and a short drive from Holmavík and Laugarhóll. We took the boat tour to Grímsey and it was magical, we saw so many puffins as well as nesting cormorants and kittiwakes. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Drangsnes is a small beautiful village. We love going there and we always stay in Malarhorn. We had the private entrance room - it is a really good sized room with a small veranda and a small batroom with a shower. Perfect for 2 people. The room was clean and comfortable. We also had dinner at the restaurant and it was really good food and service.
