A small and quiet town between the capitol of Iceland and some of the main tourist sites. Right on the way to Skógafoss and Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, and Diamond Beach. There is a street food truck run by a nice man and woman. Definitely check it out!Guest review byAbdullahUnited States - 10.0
Such a fab place to stay. Waterfall up the road.
Such a fab place to stay. Waterfall up the road. The ferry to the Waterman Islands is 30 mins away; you must visit the puffin and Beluga sanctuary on the islands. You have Vik only an hour away and you see volcanos and mountains everywhere you look. The airport is 1hr45mins away and a wonderful drive. Hella a bit sparse.
Hella a bit sparse. No good restaurants that we found and they stop serving at 9pm. Not much to Hella but it was in the countryside and we saw the Northern Lights. Small central town, great for staying at the igloos, and...
Small central town, great for staying at the igloos, and great for going all round. So nice to go east to Vik for the Katla ice caves, skogafoss and the waterfall hike, and Vik beach and west for kerid crater and blue lagoon and then north for gullfoss and the geysers. We were not happy with the accommodation.
We were not happy with the accommodation. The front desk staff were disorganized. We were told a day before check that we would have 2 cabins instead of the 2 rooms we booked in the main hotel. When we arrived we were told we would get 2 cabins. When we checked I across the street, we were told we had one cabin which was a downgrade for us. One adult had to sleep in an upper bunk bed and the cabin was smelly , some windows did not fully close and the main door did not lock. We were quite disappointed in the accommodations. The cabin was not in good shape. We specifically booked 2 rooms to get 2 bathrooms period. Based in all of this, we would like to request a partial refund.Guest review bySheilaCanada - 2.0

Checked in around 7 pm only got the keys as we were late for dinner at another restaurant, sure what can go wrong. Came back at 10 pm to find dirty cabin - can understand these things happen however no one to contact, reception closed,messaged the property no answer called the number multiple times no answer. In the middle of the Iceland 10 pm pissing rain. Luckily another property down the road had extra room for the night. We had very welcoming service, and excellent restaurant experience as well both nights. Most uniquely, its an isolated and peaceful location, with star/sky observatory hut 3 min walk from hotel. You of course need a car to reach the place and closest area with restaurants and supermarkets are around 10 mins by car. However the hotel has breakfast, dinner and a bar you can enjoy as well.
