The Kex hotel in Thingeyri is beautifully and ideally located for day tours throughout the Westfjords – on top, the cosmopolitan well-connected and jack of all trades hotel manager, Kristiann, has created a very cozy, stylish and hospitable place – he goes out of his way to point travellers to noteworthy locations to explore or interesting daytrips to be undertaken and is ready to prepare a meal after hours when everything else is closed, to be consumed in a cozy living room style communal room with a glass of wine or beer on tap. We spent six lovely nights and days there and will surely come back. Definitely deserves 5 stars!

Very charming historical Icelandic house, turned into a guesthouse. Our room was big enough, with a comfortable bed and nice views. Loved the shared dinning area, and the reading room. Good breakfast. The bookstore in the ground floor has plenty of old-style and well chosen products, plus an array of books about Iceland and the Westfjords.

Our stay was wonderful! The location and the amenities at the guesthouse were more than we could have asked for. From the view of fjords and blue waters to a beautifully furnished home - we felt right at home. The town of Flateyri is gorgeous, sleepy, and atmospheric. It is located right at the foothills of the fjord and serves as a perfect location to explore Icelandic Westfjords. We ate at the cafe (which even had vegan items on the menu), visited the old bookstore for souvenirs and some reading materials, shopped in a local grocery store and strolled the quiet streets. The guesthouse itself was clean, tastefully decorated, comfortable, and warm. It even had heated floors! We fell in love with the huge modern bath tub and the most comfortable bed. Stephanie, our host, is top notch, attentive, friendly and all around a wonderful human being. She even offered us a thermos and binoculars as we headed out to spot some local wildlife on our hike! Kind and thoughtful! In addition, we got so many tips from her about the area.
