Perfect for those who like a mix of town and country - there was something to do for everyone! The scenery is exquisite with waterfalls, volcanos, craters, mountains, black sand beaches, seals and bird-life and in town a great mix of shopping, bars, restaurants and coffee shops. It’s easy to get around with a car. Recommend ‘Icelandic Street Food’ for traditional food and ‘Sandholt’ for hot chocolate and pastries ‘Loo Koo Mas’ for the most amazing mini donuts and ‘Mama Rykjavik’ for excellent vegan food.

If you have enough time, you can easily spend two days exploring the city. Those confident in their driving skills and emergency response abilities can consider self-driving to explore the surrounding attractions, offering much more freedom. Alternatively, you can join a local tour group, which also provides a decent experience. This is especially suitable for those who don't want to drive and have limited time.

Reykjavik and Iceland overall is a must-see destination.

Reykjavik and Iceland overall is a must-see destination. Getting around is super easy, the city and country are very clean and safe. My favorite meal was the lamb soup served in bread as well as the traditional hot dog - hands down the best hot dog I've had in my life. My boyfriend and I rented a car and explored - I definitely recommend doing that if you can.

Reykavik is the best.

Reykavik is the best. the people and city our so warm and welcoming, very forward thinking and I felt safe walking around all of the time. There were so many things to do, whether you wanted a more lively night out or to chill out at a cat cafe when you weren’t off sightseeing outside of the city. The perfect base point as well to go and do whale watching, see the northern lights and do the golden circle. If confident enough would recommend hiring a car to reduce expenses of trips and cabs as are very expensive and parking was easy.

Absolutely stunning city with happy friendly people. Amazing sights to see in the city, but a whole lot more around and outside the city. Wish I could have stayed longer. But I’ll definitely be back to this beautiful country. þakka þér kærlega fyrir

Reykjavik is Iceland’s largest and most bustling city, with plenty of local Icelandic cuisine to try. The city isn’t very big, so I’d recommend either parking your car in a city parking lot or staying at a centrally located hotel. That way, you can easily explore the concert hall, Rainbow Street, and the churches on foot.

I had the pleasure of staying at 101 hotel in downtown Reykjavik that is member of the Design Hotels. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience there. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful, making our stay even more enjoyable. The hotel's location in the heart of Reykjavik was perfect for exploring the city. We found the hotel to be impeccably clean and the lounge area incredibly comfortable. Overall, we felt we received great value for our money. The design of the hotel is both stunning and timeless. Highly recommended!

Basic, very clean guesthouse in an ideal downtown location for exploring Reykjavik or going on tours. Airport bus outside the door. Clean communal area with facilities for cooking and storing food. Small bedroom with a basin, hanging space and bedside lights had all we required. Shared toilets and shower room very clean and there were never queues. Staff friendly and helpful. Being on the 4th floor it was pretty quiet. Many fancier more expensive places to stay in the city but we found this good value for the price.

The room was facing the Old Harbour and situated near some fabulous restaurants, as well as a short walk away from the center of Reykjavik. We had a great stay here - the hotel is very quirky and we appreciated the library and living spaces downstairs. It was easy to take the bus to and from the airport as well as to the Blue Lagoon.

Fosshotel Lind was a great place to stay in Reykjavik. Its location was convenient enough to walk downtown, without being too close to the nightlife. The staff were polite and friendly, and happy to answer any questions we had. The breakfast was one of the best we have had in years!

I loved the view from the apartment. I often rent apartments in Reykjavik but this was simply the best. It had everything you need and had a very good atmosphere. The fact that it was cheaper than most others was a bonus.
