The vacation in La Bussola Hotel worths it on so many levels! First of all, it was our first trip to Italy, we had no experience and actually no idea what is the better option/region/place to stay. Everything we wanted a vacation near the sea, so a good beach was a priority, not far from some city, cleanliness and a good view. And fortunately we’ve chosen the La Bussola so got everything we wanted and even more. Yes, it was not on beach itself and not in the center of Tropea - that’s something we were worried about before coming here, but it wasn’t a problem at all, as it is still close to the seaside and it takes just a few minutes to get there by car, or especially with the transfer provided by the hotel, it is very convenient and easy, the bus is modern and the driver is very nice! The room was clean (big appreciation to the ladies in charge of that, they were extremely nice and did everything just perfectly, loved them!), if you pay for the room with sea view you’ll get a very beautiful sunsets every evening. The room has a fridge with few bottles of free water and actually everything you need for a basic stay - towels, soap and shower gel/shampoo, hairdryer and AC. Wi-Fi is very good, which is a rare thing for hotels) The area of the hotel is very nice! It’s well maintained, a lot of greenery, fruits, free access to the pool (which appeared to be also not a very common thing for other hotels) and free parking. The pool is just a piece of free paradise!) Also there is a restaurant with very delicious food, live music and perfect service! As we were concerned about our free time and activities it was very helpful, because you can go and have fun any time at evening , just down the stairs (but if you want some peace it is also not a problem, the sounds from the restaurant isn’t that loud and you can barely hear it from the rooms).

We had an absolutely exceptional stay at Hotel Marinella. We were there on a special deal, off season, had a wonderful room with a breathtaking Seaview and a balcony. I have never seen such good value for money. Breakfast was included and was lovely, we had it outside on the terrasse overlooking the sea. The staff was lovely and incredibly helpful.

great sea for snorkeling but sometimes jellyfish on Grotticelle beach (very painful for kids) - in Tropea no jellyfish and calm sea all the times. in summer has the area problems with water supply - before check-in ask the owner of the property of the state of water in the tanks (we had bad luck in July, our apartment ran out of water twice a week - very stressful) the beaches of Capo Vaticano are available by car (parking is for 1,50 Eur/hour) or on foot 20min walk downhill (but up the hill in hot weather is guite a challenge) snorkeling in this sea is like in an aquarium :-)

The rooms were clean, nicely decorated and spacious. The wifi and speed was amazing. The food was good. The breakfast was not entirely free as the website suggests. The lunch buffet was delicious and loved the female bartender at the snack shack by the pool who helped us. The hotel was not a 4 star as it states and the neighbourhood surrounding the hotel is poor and run down, not safe to walk around at night. There is no iron available for hotel guests. The hotel pool needs to be fixed and maintained. The tiles are missing throughout the pool and the pool has algae growing on the side tiles. The beach made up for the pool. We had to buy towels as the hotel did not supply towels for pool/beach, 10 Euros a towel at the local market. The ocean floor is rocky and slimy and its very difficult to get in. We were not prepared to deal with the rockiness of the beach and needed to buy water shoes.

The hotel has a very nice location and the pool was well-maintained. The staff was very friendly. The food was tasty, although not everything on the menu was available (end of season!). The mattresses should be replaced! Rooms 36 and 35 need to be renovated, as they smelled musty. Despite all this, we had a lovely time and would come back.

Great view while having coffee near the lighthouse. Plenty of sunshine and pleasantly warm during the second week of October. Poor infrastructure. A backlog of public repairs seems to be in place. No pedestrian or cycle paths. Not suitable for people with disabilities. Lots of litter in public spaces. Even on the beach... plastic waste everywhere you look!

Outside of peak season, it was very quiet.

Outside of peak season, it was very quiet. Because it turned out to be primarily a tourist village, it was rather deserted. Capo Vaticano itself lacks much atmosphere. Pizzo, Scilla, or Tropea are more attractive places.

The beaches are all beautiful, well-maintained, and almost all have free and private areas. The sea is splendid, clear, and the water temperature is excellent, both inside and outside. The second half of September is a great time to visit: fewer people, lower prices, and a mild climate. I enjoyed the three beaches in Grotticelle, including Tono, and I recommend visiting the others as well.

The location is amazing, as you have a view on both sides of Capo Vaticano. It is easy to reach it. The apartment was clean and basically equipped. The biggest bonus of this location is undoubtedly the view, the pool and the private beach, which can be reached by 200 steps in the shade. We enjoyed it very much.
