Palazzo Dogana is a lovely old building full of character. I stayed in a comfortable room with a wooden high ceiling and a chandelier! Palazzo Dogana is centrally located and has access to all the life of Salerno. The host Bruno was very hospitable. I enjoyed my stay there.

I was in Salerno for business so I had less time to see it all. However, there were many things left unexplored such as a view from the hills above, a longer walk to the newer part of the city and more cultural experiences.

Salerno was great , you can get around the coat fairly easily with the ferry , positano is worth a visit for about an hour maybe an hour and a half(it's a tourist trap ) but it'll be nice to see it .

We used Salerno as our base to visit Amalfi coast, transport links were superb and we did not require a car. Traditional working city with great vibe. Felt very safe. Very nice green boardwalk along waterfront, full of locals on Sunday enjoying a stroll. Service in restaurants, cafes, shops was very welcoming and good value. Loved the old town.

Italians can be very rude and arrogant there and it's all about making money ALL THE TIME in any way they can. Prices are double than everywhere else little markets everywhere all overly priced for tired tourists. BUco Bar is OK and fairly friendly but train station has numbers to take for information and a lot of people lined up to ask question to Trenitalia. very bad experience with trains. their own people give you different information .v ery frustrating.

After doing some research we chose Salerno as a base to explore Amalfi coast. It is much more affordable than Positano and Amalfi town for accommodation and dining. Both of those destinations are an easy and enjoyable ferry ride away. If you are short on time you could do both in one day, we did them on separate days so as to have time for beach, picnic, and exploring in each place. There are some good restaurants and nice shopping in Salerno itself also the old part of town is worth exploring with narrow laneways and character buildings, plus the Cathedral.

Definitely worth visiting.

Definitely worth visiting. It's a port and a working city, much better value than much of the Amalfi coast. old town very unspoilt. Excellent restaurants, particularly away from the the main road Via Roma. 30 minutes by train from Naples.

The location is absolutely perfect in terms of being close to the centre of Salerno - less than 2 minutes to the main street, 5 minutes to the beach, about 20 minute walk to the main square where there are shops and restaurants but you pass many on the way. As expected, the hotel was difficult to locate but a quick call to the hotel led me in the right direction. Antonio was very helpful, even carrying my suitcase up the many, many stairs to the room. Maria was also lovely and they were very welcoming hosts

The location was very good, close to the Salerno port where you can take the ferry to Amalfi or Positano and close to the Salerno centrale. The room was very good and the staff were very friendly, waiting for us even though our flight was delayed and arrived late in the evening. There you can enjoy an italian breakfast with cornetti e capuccino or something else as the hotel offered a full variety of food. Definitely would recommend!

Absolutely fantastic stay! We had the two rooms and two bathrooms, which was excellent. There’s also a lovely little balcony to look out on to the street. Probably the coolest hotel I have ever been in. It transport you back in time, and you will feel like royalty. There are so many well thought out details in the room, you can really tell they put a lot of effort in. If you are in Salerno you must stay here.

An easy 7 minute walk from Salerno station. Nice clean, roomy apartment with a shared kitchen space which was handy to store food and water and eat breakfast. A pleasant walk to the ferry terminal along the harbour to start exploring the Amalfi coast. Great shops and restaurants nearby, most very reasonably priced. The manager was very helpful in assisting us with local information to explore the area.
