Incredible host! Nina is a real Italian nonna who made us feel very welcome. We arrived in the afternoon and she even offered to make us dinner (the only reason we refused is because we don't eat meat so she recommended a great restaurant just 15min into town). The rooms and bathroom are very clean and we were given fresh towels, soap in the bathroom and even a pair of slippers each. The bedroom was spacy, we got our own key so we could leave and enter when we pleased and there were two seperate beds but she helped us push them together. We wanted to leave very early so we were not counting on breakfast, but she made breakfast for us at 6:30 in the morning and it was amazing! She remembered no meat for us but it was a whole buffet just for us. Fresh bread, cheeses, eggs, cookies, cakes and so much more. We even got a jar of her home made cherry jam that she made from the cherries of her own tree! We chatted with her a bit and she is the sweetest host we ever had. She doesn't speak English very well but she can communicate perfectly by use of the translation app on her phone. When we left she even pointed us in the right direction of the highway so we didn't have to take the mountain road the gps told us to. She gave us some fresh strawberries from her own garden and we were on our way! If we ever stop in Bologna again we will be sure to book with Nina again 🩷

The appartement Casa Vacanze Ca' di Lucchini in the tiny village of San Benedetto is a genuine gem. In the family owned house from late 19 th century, Stefano and his family have refurbished the appartement to tip-top modern standard We felt at home imidiately. On our arrival we were very well received in a personal and friendly manner by the host, Stefano, and his grandson. All though he was short of english and we only knew a handful of Italian words, we managed to communicate very well. During the stay we also spoke to his wife and brother - all of them lovely and warm people. The appartement has a personal touch, and is beauitiful decorated with a mix of mordern art, cozy decoration and old antique furniture. It has enough space for a family, and it was spotless clean and very well equipped for a long stay. The beds were very good, and gave us good nights sleep. And to top it of, the value for money is outstanding. The village is some 15 minutes drive off the A1 from Fiernze to Bologna, but its more that worth a detour if you are looking for a stop over, or want a base for exploring the area. Highly recommended.

Bruno is an amazing host, he was so helpful, speaks great English and is very used to travellers coming from Via degli Dei - he knows you're hungry and cold (most likely) when you get there, and is happy to help. I paid for dinner and breakfast, and the dinner was really good, made by himself. The house is also gorgeous, old tuscan style, really feels like you're in the countryside (although it's 5 min walking from the center of Madonna dei Fornelli). Overall so happy with this stay!

A colleague and I stayed here for just one night, during a business trip in the area. Suffice to say that I’d love to return for a holiday weekend. It’s a small, privately owned hotel. My room was simply but beautifully decorated and furnished, and was comfortable and pristine. The hotel is fairly remote, so a car is a necessity to get to restaurants and bars. We went to a restaurant called La Prada, about 2km from the hotel, which was fabulous. The surrounding countryside is truly breathtaking, and I say that as someone who spends a fair amount of time climbing hills in the Scottish Highlands and the English Lake District. Hotel Il Crinale is a real gem, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure our short stay was perfect. I have no hesitation in wholeheartedly recommending the hotel to anyone who visits the area.

If you are on via degli dei this is the best accommodation so far. They have a delicious breakfast, the room is clean and cozy and the staff is super kind. We really had a great stay here.:)

The location is a great way to discover the ‘Via degli Dei’ along the via Flaminia Militare from Bologna to Firenze. Beautiful, on the mountain edges between Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany regions. Great nature and mountain views and really friendly locals!

It's a small mountain town with little to offer except for those who enjoy hiking or mountain biking. However, the region has no shortage of charming or more typical villages. Furthermore, Florence and its surrounding area are not far away!

A small town with all the amenities you need for a vacation. The only drawback is the difficulty finding a restaurant open early in the week. Frassinago27, a fresh post shop/restaurant, is definitely worth a try (excellent).

The house is very welcoming and clean, with a toilet and a renovated full bathroom, and is full of thoughtful touches. The bedrooms are spacious, comfortable, and cozy. The surrounding area is fantastic for walks and hiking. The host is wonderful.

Fantastic location. Very kind owners. We even had to be rescued upon arrival because the sat nav got us stuck in the middle of the woods with our motorbike. Super Massi came to the rescue with his legendary off-road vehicle.
