My husband and I have been to Sorrento a few times in the past 5 years. It is very beautiful. We have really noticed the increase in tourism and especially the increase in cost of eating out. Elastic pants are definitely your friend here as the food is so good and some of the restaurants outstanding! We have visited Pompeii, Herculaneum, Positano, Amalfi. Sorrento overall was fine. Plenty of top quality restaurants, although we had a poor experience at a restaurant in the Marina Grande. Would highly recommend the Cantinaccia del Popolo, not easy to find, it sits exactly (10m) opposite the Hotel Zi’Teresa. Be prepared to queue after 6.30pm, however it is well worth the wait. If you only have a few days, you should stay in Amalfi, or Positano or Capri, etc. Sorrento is nice but not as special. If you have many days then stay in Sorrento and do day trips. First time in Sorrento and always been on my list. Great place to explore Italian coast. Boat trips to Capri and Positano excellent. Train to Pompeii for tour was excellent. Love the town of Sorrento, busy and lots of tourists but somehow feels leisurely. The views from our balcony were incredible. The room has air conditioning and is very comfortable. As Francesco and Anna will tell you, 95% of what you eat while on the farm, is made ON the farm. And it is VERY GOOD. We enjoyed wine and antipasto on a couple of nights, and it was very very good. Anna was a WONDERFUL hostess:)The nicest pizza I've ever had....
