The Jewel in the Sicilian Crown
As you admire crystal-clear turquoise seas from a Taormina piazza swathed in vibrant pink blossom, you could be forgiven for thinking that you were in paradise. The stunning location of this picturesque town is its crowning glory.
However, it’s not its only glory. Surrounded by trees just below the main town, the Greek Theatre is also a triumph. Its largely intact seating offers wonderful views across the stage towards Mount Etna fuming away in the distance. Spine-tingling summer performances are still held here, and several of the town’s bars also offer live music.
Corso Umberto I runs through the heart of Taormina, from Piazza Corvaja to the 13th-century cathedral, and houses many shops and cafés. Midway along is Piazza IX Aprile, whose clock tower and church are overlooked by a rocky hill topped with a castle.
A cable car runs from the town down to the beautiful Taormina beaches (where the train station is also found). At the centre of the W-shaped bay is little Isola Bella, an island nature reserve. To the south-west is the long stretch of sand at Giardini-Naxos, and north is the bay by Mazzaró.
As you would expect of Sicily’s most beautiful resort, there is no shortage of Taormina accommodation on Booking.com, including 5-star hotels on the beach, town centre apartments and luxury B&Bs.

there is a lot to see here and try to get down to beach ,yes it busy and touristy but its such an amazing spot with steep hills and magnificent hotels...by the way the four seasons is booked 2 month in advance just to buy a drink! stay away from the main street restaurants as a bit of a rip off over all a much better place to stay than Catania if your touring Sicily.Guest review byThommoAustralia - 10.0

Taormina was lovely, I would definitely recommend going to anyone. I would also recommend comfy walking shoes as a lot of it is up and down and to be aware that the public transport isn’t anyways reliable and to maybe bare this in mind when needed to get to trips as we almost missed a couple of our trips due to the buses not turning up.
