The hotel was located very close to the station. We arrived prior to the check in time but we were able to leave our luggage at reception. The hotel room had a retro vibe. It was a larger room which was comfortable and very clean. Breakfast was included, making this stay very good value. The breakfast staff were an extremely efficient team offering tasty food.

    We enjoyed the parts of town we were able to experience during our short stay. The train station and surrounding area is dinosaur themed. It's really quite cool and very unique. During our stay we visited the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum which our family (kids are aged 14 & 11) enjoyed. The train (and bus) trip to the museum was scenic and very pleasant. Due to the size of Fukui it was easy to get around. There are plenty of places to eat and shop (again not too far from the train station). I wish we could've stayed a little longer.

    Fukui has a beautiful modern railroad station serving up old-school rail lines that go through the rice fields to the surrounding area as well as Japan's fastest Shinkansen to Osaka and Kyoto. This station's decor showcases dinosaurs celebrating the largest discovery of remains in Japan to be found nearby. The station's tourist bureau, which has an English-speaking staff member available, has tours to the dinosaur museum and several other local sites, but trains and dinosaurs must be a wonderful way to travel with children. The tourist bureau provided me with a local walking map to gardens and a ruined castle even though I actually traveled to Fukui to only to visit Eiheiji, a Zen Monastery active since the 13th-century -- which was wonderful.

    It is well organised just outside all railplatforms do not here trains though .small entrance can be missed reception 2nd floor. Luggage is stored with security if required good breakfast. Did not use TV though has free English language movies

    JR Fukui is still new and modern and not crowded.

    JR Fukui is still new and modern and not crowded. Very recommend going to Fukui Dinosaur Museum (should buy ticket online in advance) and ECHIZEN DAIBUTSU (GREAT BUDDHA) in the same day with ECHIZEN-RAILWAY-KATSUYAMA-EIHEIJI-LINE Day pass 1,200 yen only.

    Fukui has plenty of local cuisine such as Europe-ken...

    Fukui has plenty of local cuisine such as Europe-ken Headquarters' pork cutlets and seasonal seafood bounties along the Echizen coastline which we enjoyed. We also attended a Washi paper workshop art routine which is a wonderful experience at short notice. The unassuming hospitality of the people whom we met there is also a plus factor for us during our tour in Tojinbo area and at our stay in Minshuku Inn. We shall certainly be planning a return trip in the future in another season such as the Autumn period. Thanks to Mr Iwase our attentive host during our 2 nights stay.
