I love everything about this place! It's so cosy, traditional house with the host making us feel like home all the time. Dinner and Breakfast served was delicious! Location was near ski rental shops and the ski lift. The sento was near as well. Probably the best Ryokan I've ever stayed in rural Japan!

The spacious room and nice lobby.

2 minutes walk from the train station and onsen one. Yukata and accessories are available for free for men, women and children. You are also given a straw bag with an onsen containing two towels and tabi socks, clean towels are left in front of the room each day. The room was very nice, with tatami and a fully functioning dining area. Microwave, cups, chopsticks, wet and dry napkins are always available in the common area. Breakfast is tasty and filling.

Amazing! What a lovely Ryokkan in a lovely little (very friendly!) town. Great hospitality from the staff, and a memorable private onsen experience we will never forget. The General Manager is a superstar and made us feel very welcome. We loved the private onsen. The short walk to the foot bath is gorgeous in the evening when the lights come on. People offered us their eggs and sweets, as they stopped to chat. (What a highlight of our trip to Japan!) Make sure to cook some eggs and soak your feet as you take in the atmosphere. It's wonderful.

Great buffet dinner and breakfast.

The owner was very welcoming and nice. The first thing he did was take a lot pictures for me before asking me to check in. He was a very professional photographer, he took from a lot of angles and backgrounds. The food and service were very exceptional. The onsen pass was also included but the best one was from the ryokan itself. You can have the cave onsen all to yourself without reservation.

Yuko was the best host you could ask for! Both the place and the atmosphere inside the hostel are fantastic. Without a doubt, one of the best hostels we stayed at during our time in Japan. Highly recommended!

I could not thank the Kobayashiya team enough, especially Ms. Yang, for the hospitality and kindness during my stay, going above and far beyond expectation for solving any problems I had in Kinosaki and ensured I had a unforgettable smooth vacation here, becoming the highlight of my trip to Japan, even after staying in a few high rated ryokans in other regions. I chose this residence initially as I was able to see from their Instagram that they had worked with an L.A. company working with young adults with Autism, Aspergers, Anxiety and ADHD. Not only was the English support amazing, I would also like to support them in finding creative outlets to do more as a hotel. The photos does not show justice to how beautiful, unique and comfortable the environment is. Clean rooms without a speck of dust. Wonderful lighting for a homely feeling. An exquisite dining environment with garden views. My room also featured a wonderful view over the famed Kinosaki river, observing the lanterns light up as the evening dawns. The “public baths” are actually a highlight of the residence. They are private onsen baths designed with simplistic brilliance, each with their own semi-open air gardens. You can lock the doors so you actually have the bath to yourself. I regret not spending more time in these baths. I understand how one might prefer not sharing the same bathing area with others, but if you are in Kinosaki anyways you’ll be sharing and soaking in the most amount of public baths in your life. Yukata and getas are provided for you for the most authentic Kinosaki experience, as the elegant clangs of getas ring through the night by locals and foreigners alike. Definitely worth more than a 2 star rating, the luxuries may not be present but the service and friendliness is second to none, and gave me an experience of a lifetime. P.S.
